Newcomer to the game

Just wanted to mention another place to play online, which probably won’t be going AA50 anytime soon (so if you want a place to play Revised for a while, it’d fit the bill): the IAAPA, which can be found at axisandallies.net
This is one of the oldest A&A clubs around, and these folks are so old school that most of the gaming there is still 2nd edition!  That’s right, Revised is cutting edge at the IAAPA.  However, don’t be too quick to dismiss them, they have some very good players including some very good Revised players.  I’ve played in a number of their Revised tournaments (they have three per year) and have never made it to the finals.

Actually what our group is doing to our navy planes and Carriers is putting a very small strip of magnetic tape you can buy in a roll and cut to size.  One side is adhesive but we add glue to avoid any edge curling.  It doesn’t take much - especially a washer type magnet - because all you are doing is keeping the plane from falling off.

We put a small strip down the belly of the plane.  And we put a small patch on the top of the carrier.  Its totally hidden when the planes are on it.   Saves the work and trouble of drilling and iserting mag wire or metal down the centers.

Kind of like one of the optional games in Mapview (Can’t remember the name of it… it’s where everyone starts out the same around the edge of a custom map with a large sea and island in the middle ?)

  So Jennifer, it is probibly more of a matter of trust in the server than a problem with your machine? I know just how you feel. It is hard sometimes to go outside our comfort zone. And something different is not always better. I for one have few complaints with Triple A, the ladder or how the program works, although today I did have it freeze on me during a roll, (had to restart my computer to get out of it). Nothing is perfect, right?

Back to topic; I prefer LL for the mere fact that the regular dice are more often than not, unkind to me, causing much frustration. I know that I play a better game than my track record shows, and since I’ve begun playing LL it has been a lot less frustrating for me. I win more often, and even the games I’ve lost have not been one sided crushing defeats in 6 rounds. I will play AAR for fun, or to give a newbe a better chance to beat me, but not a serious game against a master Obewon Jedi AA player. I prefer to match wits, not the luck of the die rolls, for that, we can play Craps  :wink:
