Yes. That is what it means.

Combat will result in any case in which units from opposing sides are in the same space during the Combat phase, regardless of how they got there.

Yeah, I ended up doing 3 copies myself. It worked out well for my customized AA50 set. Should work numbers-wise for a G40 set as well.
