    @FMErwinRommel Italy is normally just a pain the neck…it has to be supported by G but doesnt really add any value once the can openers have been killed…taking cairo is very hard against an experienced player unless taranto goes wrong. In our current situation you can build 3 units and bring in 6 land units and up to 4 air to defend it. But you have to do this or similar or it will fall.so italy will tie the UK up in africa for a few turns at least.

    Didnt offer a scramble as had overwhelming odds in the channel…

    I spent a lot of time planning the defense of Egypt, while also protecting Gibr and London. A critical battle was AES, where I expected to lose 2 amphib inf and destroy 3 Italians. You rolled 2 for 2 on round 2 and I rolled 1 for 3. I lost both inf and a Tac and you still have an art. Planned to take Iraq, but then decided on unprovoked DOW on Japan instead. Didn’t have great odds in Iraq as not amphib, so I couldn’t bombard. But not taking Iraq now slows my build in Mideast before Italy tries for it. Haven’t tried unprovoked DOW before, that I remember. Gives UKPac & ANZ more cash for a turn, but gives Japan option of not attacking U.S.

    @FMErwinRommel As I see it Italy’s job is to tie the UK up in the med and africa for as long as possible…a suicide into cairo doesnt help that so time to cause some harrasment! Having AES go my way was a nice bonus though

    Always an interesting move to declare on japan…does getting the NO bonus outweigh bringing the states in on T3? We shall see…

    Nice move taking 2 isles with one tt. The problem with Italy is that it usually can’t defend its tt’s, so taking an isle usually means losing a tt. You are doing somewhat similar to what I did in our first game; go for Egypt but then back away. But you didn’t evacuate any, which makes it a stronger force to move westward. I thought about moving UK bomber to Gib, would have helped to take out a tt. I have 3 Ital land targets & 2 tt’s to hit, plus Iraq. That spreads my attacks thinly.
