The play by email function is broken (technical issues) on my end, so we can’t use that (we’ll just have to use the local game function and I’ll track dice to ensure neither of us are cheating). How come I didn’t scramble to defend the transport? I left a ship there to defend so that scramble would be option.

@surfer the rule is that the scramble only works with a surface warship to defend…

Ok. This is another rule change that I was not aware of.
Originally, CV scramble to any naval battle, including lone transports.
Then it was changed that only scramble to defend combatants.
I see now it explicitly says surface warships.I put the Sub there to enable the scramble. I would have put a DD there (I had 3) if I had known this was the rule. I guess it’s my job to be aware of rule changes, but I feel justified in asking for my transport back and putting a DD in SZ37 to compensate.

@surfer Hum…after J6 you mentioned that if you had put any surface warship there I wouldnt have been able to sink those 2 tts without a scramble option. So I thought you were aware of that rule but had missed the fact that the anzac fighters would move with the US cv giving the air more range…

No. I knew the ANZACs were coming. But I was trying to optimize. I thought I just needed a combatant. My comment above is what prompted me to put a unit with the transport this time.

I can chalk it up to a learning item. One transport does not win the game. But I am really annoyed it happened this time, because I thought I was protecting the transport.
