No matter what kind of battle, it is the ordinary people who suffered a lot.

Town…. not really. They were some ten miles from the next food depot, and they knew where it was, but just couldn’t make it. There are no real towns on Antarctica even today, and there were certainly no permanent settlements either back then.

Heading to Spain for Christmas, I will probably be back on the coast the first week of March.

Hhhmmm, it sounds more like an American Congressman who wants to ban death in order to keep their district from being re-districted out of existence with the next census :-)

Of course, the US tried a variant of this about 40 years ago.  While we did not ban death, we determined that death was no hindrnace to voting… at least in Metropolitan Chicago!  LOL
