Jaxrealm,
And real cool pic btw, just reading about that…
Are you meaning the pic of my Dad on the left? He’s not only still alive but works everyday and plays A&A G-40 with us almost every week-end.

So I came to a copy of AA 1942 1st edition. I haven’t played AA yet, but I always found Risk too weak.
Now that I read everywhere that the 1st edition is not that good, I wondered if it would be possible to just get the maps from the 2nd edition and 1941 and then play with the rules that suit me best.
Any impressions?
If you are looking for just map boards, you’ve two options. One is to scout eBay for people parting out games they have. The other is to check historicalboardgaming.com for their stock of map boards: https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Axis-Allies-Game-Boards_p_1969.html. Right now they have 1941 but not 1942, 2nd Ed available.
As for rule books, you can find them digitally on the Avalon Hill website: https://avalonhill.wizards.com/rules.
I hope that helps.
