Sure it would. Just closing and opening up the CM, adjusting the battle-field and starting the battle again. But… right now it might not be possible.

Or maybe I can just do as you said? Designate a die. Problem is that it will screw up the battle-sequence.
I’ll restart for simplicity and avoiding dubious situations. Will probably have to do it anyway.
