It is Naval movement that is stopped if you do not own both sides.

Oh my. THAT changes things. I just checked the PDF version of the manual, and you are right.

That drastically changes several (previously) working strategies. Oh man, my buddies are going to hate my guts when I pull this out on them. I’m tempted to give them a heads up, just so the game isn’t won by that rule change alone… but the looks on their faces will be so priceless, I just can’t warn them. :evil:

Yea, the reason for that is America can offset any advances by Japan through exploitation of her islands.  Couple that with the massive fleet Japan has to build up just to keep America from owning everything and killing her Asian units from the rear and you have a mess for Japan.

Germany and Japan have to be able to strike Russia together, preferably at least a 1-2-3 punch, 1-2-3-4 if they can manage it.

Reson being, once Germany starts to go hard on Russia, and has a large stack 2 territories away (about to take Caucuses, West Russia or Arcahngel in FORCE) then suddenly every Allied FIG in existence will make its way to Moscow before the final attack, adding 5-10 FIGs to Russia’s 20 +/- INF means that neither Germany nor Japan can crack Moscow alone.

no its really not amazingly bad.  and that is just because they don’t have a true system in place for transporting and the axis has a lot of troops still on the board.  it is really going to come down a lot to dice rolls and some solid execution

I as Russia only send the units east of russia and caucasus on the first turn to asia the rest to concentrate on germany
