I don’t really like this scramble to land idea.

I am a game theory fan. If I am playing against someone who has superior tactics than me, I take far more risks compared to games against inferior opponents. I would have placed my chance of winning this game at about 10-15% at the beginning of the match since you are vastly better and I am coming off a three year gap of playing. When I have a chance to increase my odds to win, I will take the gamble. As my first gamble didn’t pay off, I had to take increasingly desperate gambles. When playing against inferior opponents like me, don’t give them a chance to have a 30% to tip the odds, or even a 10% probability battle if you are doing well in the match.
We have had three key battles with dice. The first one in SZ110 exactly matched odds. The second one in Bryansk was a 5% outcome that really tipped the balance. You could have safely retreated to Moscow and deny me ever having a decisive battle ever again as your superior tactics slowly overwhelmed my repeated blunders. I think that I would have failed to take Moscow, get bottled up in the Caucuses, and given up around turn 12.

well you’re free to judge yourself as a weaker player and keep relying on luck against stronger opponents, but will you really improve playing that way? so let’s say you win this game, what have you accomplished, other than having a huge dice favor early on which honestly, really the game was over at that time, and I am just stretching it out to see if I can get enough luck back since you’re such a gambler? I have managed to get some luck back, but not enough and where it can really matter, unfortunately, as not having Russia since like turn 5 has been a huge hole out of which I can’t seem to dig myself.
while I can try to play ultra conservative against opponents like you, thinking you will go for any which dice favors that can win you the game, I much prefer not to even bother. if this game degenerates into a dicing fest, it’s not fun or strategic for me at all. keep in mind I already went in handicapped, as the current consensus is that allies should be getting at least an 18 bid versus a competent axis. so I already had factored in your rustiness and relative lack of experience. anyway, like I said, I think you’re way smarter and skilled in this game than you give yourself credit for, and would hope you’d rely less on the luck favors in your future matches. but I can’t help but doubt you will consider this advice. so you will always remain below your potential and inconsistent, at the whims of the dice engine’s mood.
