I feared a retreat in SZ43 after the first round. ANZAC would have (probably) been able to sink the survivors.
Not sure what was so bad and unexpected for you though. SZ127 didn’t go well for you but surely that isn’t fatal.
I’ve been confident in this game for a while, in spite of my J2 Burma attack proving ill advised. I didn’t weaken UK_Pacific at all by doing that, they’re still living on now. Ouch!

@simon33 The problem i had with the retreat in sz43 was that I had to go back to sz35 which left me open to an enormous counter from japan…I had modelled it that I would retreat when just air and a sub left having done about the same damage, but you got a good second round which hurt.
127 just felt horrible…i need to be getting positive TUV every round against germany and that was definitely negative! I did think the uk cargo plane would have the option to land on friendly territory though…that was doubly nasty.
I’m hoping the big investment in subs in the pac should start to weaken japan fatally soon though, 9 subs should start to have an impact I hope! The 7 ipc loss last turn was sub par :nerd_face: , although taking your dd with the sub killed was a nice bonus
