Generally pacific builds consists of a 2 to 1 ratio of subs-destroyer. Following turn is 5-6 bombers. This forces Japan to start building fleet instead of troops for India/China crush.
I just had to give som additional thumbs up fo9r this comment :D Buying other combat ships than subs, dds (Or CW + ftrs) is rarely correct. the 2 to 1 ratio shos that sean knows how fodder works and how it is the most important thing in these battles.
The only reason to stop buying the subs is if japan for some reason dont respond with fleetbuilding and only buys planes instead. But then you should win anyways :D
which is why i said that it didn’t work against a too planeheavy japan. on theory, the DDs + other surface ships ofc needs to be enough to stop all the planes of japan + 2 rounds of plane only builds of japan.
What would prevent japan from attacking your fleet of subs-destroyers with air and a few destroyers. With 20+ planes they can whipe out your whole fleet with minimal losses as subs cant even hit the planes.
I normaly go for a carrier heavy fleet followed by subs destroyers for attacking power. Ideally i want my carriers to bait an early attack from japan that i can crush in the counter and get his carriers and BB out of the way so anzac and UKP can clean up the rest.
Current 2020 Global 1940 2nd Edition Bid?

Thank you @Tizkit. You are a wealth of information. I guess I will throw my hat into the ring on the League page for an OOB game. If there is not much interest I guess I will have to learn this Balanced Mod version.
Thanks again for all of your input.

I have not seen a bid system where you can only place 1 unit per zone. I am only familiar with bidding to put what you want where you want as long as there is a unit of that nationality present.
That being the case, bids in my games are also $15 - $20

all right! That allows for a much smaller allied bid then.

I’ll happily play Axis if the Allies want to put 6 inf in Yunnan
-
Perhaps that bid wouldn’t be very flexible - I’d be inclined to throw in 1-2 art and 1-2 USSR fighters, but in any event a bid that precludes the J1 attack on Yunnan is not great for the axis - although may not do enough. Of course, you had 30 bid and put down 10 inf in Yunnan, it would be a waste.
-
I think 10 inf in yunnan would be a game changer. It will be almost impossible for Japan to take India as China (with artillery) will control Burma from yunnan for many rounds.
-
This was the official way of bidding in the league many moons ago. But I suppose I’ll have to get used to the new bidding rules. I definitely understand why teh bids are so high with the unit placement limits.
-
At some point around a 60 bid, Russia can help stack Yunnan on R2 with planes+fast movers and help prevent Japan from capturing any of the British territories in Asia. With Japan hurting so badly for income, I would think that a 100% KGF strategy from USA would be adequate to prevent Germany from winning unless the Allies get diced in risky early-game battles such as a low-odds attack on Egypt. Prolonged income differences are virtually impossible to overcome in a TripleA match; almost anything is possible in live play especially with a mixture of novices and experts.

@Arthur-Bomber-Harris
Yep - that Yunnan stack can be a pain.
