    Something I didn’t expect or plan for happened in Iraq. Your Japanese fighter and tactical didn’t participate in the battle, presumably because Soviet and Japan are not at war! This was not my intention as I expected having to fight them also. In addition, the were also removed from the game after the battle… I looked at the AA 1940 rulebook and it says:

    “Combat: A power can’t attack a territory controlled by or containing units belonging to a power with which it is not at war. If a power at war attacks a sea zone containing units belonging to both a power with which it’s already at war and a power with which it’s not at war, the latter power’s units are ignored. Those units won’t participate in the battle in any way, and a state of war with that power will not result.”

    I am no expert, but do you also interpret this as I should not have been able to attack Iraq without declaring war on Japan?

    Actually when looking at the game notes, its says:

    "Rules specific to 1940 the engine does not do, but you must follow: (PE) You may not attack a territory containing units owned by a nation that you are not at war with (even if the territory is owned by someone you are at war with).

    Apologies for this. I believe the best way to deal with this is for me replaying the Russian round 9?
