    all that’s needed is any warship, including an enemy sub. so in this case, I sent my sub in and that was all that was needed. I could then simply ignore your sub

    Are you sure about a sub? doesnt matter in this case since you send your fleet there. but I thought it had to be a surface warship.

    you are right. I wonder if that was changed at some point. Good to know. Made some of my sub placements completely worthless without realizing it. Assumed you would have to send a surface ship to escort.

    in the first edition, there was a rule about transports moving through or into sea zones without surface warship escort. In first edition subs got to fire at passing transports that werent escorted by surface warship. Eventually they changed that rule and made it so that as long as transport was escorted by any warship it could ignore them. I knew they had changed the original rule but missed the change from surface warship to just warship. thankfully it doesnt really matter in this particular scenario.

    ah yah, that’s easy to miss. I too seem to recall there being a distinction between surface warship vs any warship, just not remembering right now which rule(s)

    its at this point where limited recent experience really starts to mess with me. I feel like I am not in control and behind though I am not really sure I am. I am certainly behind economically and europe doesnt look great but pacific is far from decided. Struggle with recognizing whether or not I need to make something happen or just let things play out. More experience with longer competitive games is needed to get that feel though and its been a long time since I have had those.
