I agree that you had good chances at the beginning, but should have immediatly retreated after 1st RoC (Round of Combat) ImO.
I am not sure that if you had succeeded even with 11 average units surviving that this would have sealed Euro Axis fate.
Japan is controlling the Pacific now. And Germany along w. Italy are ecconomically in good shape.
