Just a desperate last attempt. You win. Great work. I feel humiliated.
I’d be happy to play with you again as Axis. Perhaps not with 30, but a higher bid. Perhaps midway? I’m no challenge whatsoever to you otherwise, is my humble opinion.
You don’t do simple mistakes. I do plenty. You generously let me redo a hefty lot of them as well.
I guess that the bid of 8-9 to Allies regarding the masters opinion that you refered to is simply in games between masters.
great game, and please don’t be humiliated! firstly, this was your first bm game, whereas I have probably at least a 100 under my belt, so I am way more experienced! and when you count all my days in global vanilla, revised, and classic, I’m one of the most experienced around. but even now I am still learning more about the game, and we are all here to learn from each other all the while HOPEFULLY having fun in the process.
I can already see you really get the game, you are definitely someone I would NOT want to take for granted, it’s just that I see you’re making mistakes here and there. I’m willing to bet that’s more from playing your turns too quickly and probably squeezing them in between whatever events you have in your day (lunch break, early morning before school/work, etc.). I know how that works, cuz I used to do that a lot too, and while my experience allowed me to get away with that without making too many mistakes, I did nonetheless make mistakes and also did not enjoy the game as much. so my first advice to you is, SLOW DOWN, especially against any E or M level player.
Given what I said above, I do not feel a higher bid will fix or compensate for the hurried play. I guess it would more help with your comparative inexperience, but again, I can already see your skill and talent, even through all the mistakes. therefore I believe it’ll be better for your longterm growth in the game to take a little beating up front in some of these master or elite level matches, which if your morale can survive that, will only make you come out that much stronger.
I am willing to compromise, however, and up the bid to 5 this time around, especially considering that axis definitely does seem to have the advantage in bm3. Now, if you end up getting another big beating, we can look at inching it up to 7 the next time, and so on. I just don’t feel too comfortable jumping to giving axis too high of a bid, considering what I can already see in your potential, and all that I know about balance mod.
let me know if you’re good with that, and if so, you may go ahead and start a new game thread for us.
