I was so careful to guard my Chinese VC and the IC. But got lulled into compacency when you never invaded. Well, at least ANZ didn’t get the income and lost a transport. I can take the territory back this turn and not lose the income. Interesting Allied move to Java sea. Need your caffeine fix, but there’s a line of Japanese already out the door.

ANZAC’s sacrifice of an infantry unit and a transport to destroy the minor IC in Kiangsu was a selfless act. The Japanese have 4 MI within striking distance, not to mention another 10 possible units from the sea. So the Allies were not expecting to hold onto Kiangsu.
I was surprised how the Allied fleets and land based planes could combine to have such a wide and powerful reach in the S. Pacific/India. Java alone can reach 3 ICs. What once would have been considered large garrisons deterring invasion, now can be easily crushed by your massive carrier squadrons. Japan can’t protect its SE Asia ICs even with large garrisons. So I can’t build anything of consequence in them. But I can retake them.
Somehow I overlooked attacking the U.S. sub in Phil and NCM my fleet there. Will you allow me to attack it?

Thanks, I increased Japan income by 2 points to negate the convoy damage by the sub that was sunk.
You should switch from Start PBEM to Start Local Game if you checking the US threat. Otherwise, we both get a lot of unnecessary Marti emails.
I have a rule question. The Americans shouldn’t be allowed to air attack Phil unless they can win the sea battle, because the planes can’t reach beyond sz35, which is controlled by Japan fleet. Yet in testing it, AI allowed the air attack, which killed all defending units in Phil and then all surviving U.S. planes were destroyed at end of turn. This shouldn’t even be allowed to take place
Oops, right, didn’t think of that. Was just anxious to see what the computer would do with a U.S. air attack on Phil, so I could make any changes before you took your turn.
It should have required a sea battle first, like in amphib attacks.

According to the rules, the US just needs to make an attempt to clear SZ35 (e.g., send 1 submarine to attack the Japanese fleet there). The US would then lose all its fighters and tacs because the attack would be futile and the US could not send its CVs in on a NCM.
I’m not going to make any change to Japan turn due to this discussion.
