    I play tested the sub battle and my subs hit twice and yours missed. In the real game, I hit 1 sub, as expected, but you went 2 for 3, double what expected. So I lost a sub and DD instead of just the DD.

    @FMErwinRommel Japan will struggle to regain the DEI now…with an enormous Allied airforce in the region the entire japanese combined navy would be at risk of being sunk.

    The odds of the extremely lopsided results of the Japanese attack on ANZAC were less than 1/1000. The odds of 2 subs, a DD and a fighter all hitting on the first round were 0.62% (1/6 x 1/6 x 1/3 x 2/3). The odds of all my units missing were 14.84% (2/3 x 2/3 x 2/3 x 1/2). The odds of one having the best possible and the other the worst possible outcomes is .0062 x .1484 = 0.00092. If you had rolled in reverse order: 4,2,1,1; you would have given 2 hits. My goal was to sink your ships. My subs could only hit your ships, and your fighter was the only high defense unit, so I should have achieved my goal. I had a positive, but not overwhelming chance of winning. I would have achieved my goal is I had lost all my units and you had your fighter left. This extreme result was for a battle with significant consequences on the front line. On your very next turn, in a meaningless, remote battle, the dice favored me: you rolled 2 foe 7, and neutral Argentina rolled 2 for 4. The 4 neutral infantry lasted 3 rounds, killing 3 attackers.

    Japan would have been in much better shape if the ANZ fleet had been sunk. There would have only been one isle to recapture. Building the Arabian naval base. which allowed UK to take Sum, was a surprise. But don’t underestimate the power of the Japanese.

    For the second turn in a row, ANZAC defied overwhelming odds to defeat Japan in a small, but critical battle. I attacked Java with more units and twice the power, but inflicted half the hits. You rolled 2-for-2 on the first round. If I had also rolled two hits, I would have sacrificed my bomber to take Java… I attacked Java instead of Sum, to keep U.S. from landing planes on the airbase this turn. Now ANZ keeps 4 PU and I fail to gain 4 PU.

    The long arm of the IJN takes Midway and Wake, yielding a 5 PU N.O. Japan threatens Hawaii, as panic spreads on the West Coast, from Seattle to L.A. and San Diego, . Lucky for you, the U.S. has high income to build in W.C. and still build infantry for the Euro campaign. And you have few locations for expensive new air and naval bases. Just think what a pickle you’d be in, if ANZAC didn’t have amazing luck.
