New set up for Axis & Allies

Welcome back to the game Joyrider. I stopped playing for a little while and started playing back in about 97 and I am hooked again. Be careful Joyrider you may end up being like me and play and you won’t want to stop.

The classic rule is IC’s that you do not start with are limited.

So if Ger takes Kar, they can only place 3 on subsequent turns when they maintain control of it at the start of the turn.

IC placement rules are similar to ftr/bmr landing rules.  It can only happen on territories you controlled at the start of the turn, prior to any purchases.

The one you will find in stores now, made by Avalon Hill is the revised map, with some rule changes.  Arguably, a more difficult game due to additional pieces, more territories, and greater options for strategies, etc.

The older version (the Milton Bradley one) is the classic, and has a nice sized game board.  If you have never played before, the older version is easier to learn on.

Personally, I am just hoping for a PC version of Revised and the D-Day/Pacific variants with some really good AI in the near future :-)

thanks for the tip for going to win98/95 mode. it runs much more smoothly on XP with 98 on!

I agree with Zero on all his comments except on the above regarding battleships.

Battleships are allowed their special one shot only if they were not involved in a naval battle. If the battleship is present in the same SZ as a naval battle, it has to participate (just like any attacking transports present). After the naval battle, the battleship’s turn is done and it cannot fire its special one shot onto the land battle.

Wild2000 is right. Silly me. That’s a house rule we have that Battleships can participate in both battles. Silly me.

Save it manually? LOL Yes, that’d be a bit tedious.

Unfortunately, I’m still stuck with the same problem, and re-installing the game hasn’t helped any. Does the A&A folder have a seperate sub-folder for saved games?

I think that if Germany falls, Japan still has a shot at winning. In one game I played, Japan had already taken Russia and was pushing into Ukraine and Kerelia. However, Germany surrendered to the Allies on the very next turn so it was USA/UK vs. Japan. If I remember the calculations correctly Japan was making around 69 IPCs a turn with UK and USA at 77. For about 50+ turns, trench warefare waged across Finland, Eastern Europe, and East Africa with Naval and Aerial battles raging across the English Channel. My God it was great!
