@wizmark Yeah? The battlecalc says we only have an 88% chance of winning a simple 2 v 1 battle like that, so if you play a lot of games and make a lot of those attacks then I guess you would see a lot of weird upsets over time.
I remember I used to be shocked at how powerful the 2 inf, 1 ftr vs. 1 inf attack is (98% even if you’re not willing to risk the fighter) or the 3 inf v 1 inf attack is (90% to win). The odds are weird sometimes; they certainly don’t line up with my intuitions.
That said, it’s always frustrating when you send in as much as you have available, and it should be enough to get the job done, and then it whiffs. I’ve been enjoying World at War lately because it works well with low-luck, so there’s less of those unpleasant surprises.
