Rank the weapons developments from best to worst.

Hello, new guy to the board.
Recently taught a friends son and he is hooked. Before that, haven’t played in 30 years. In my destroyed game box, i even found my original 5 slips of paper, one per country, for random team assignments.

Onto my thread: I also played d&d so i had 8 and 10 sides dice. I remember coming up with new developments, and if you rolled a six, you roll an eight or 10 sided die to see what you got.

I think 7 was armed transports, and while still can be used as cannon fodder, on a roll of one they score a hit.

the eighth was radar, which means anti-aircraft can hit planes on a roll of a one or two.

9 might have been larger aircraft carriers, that can hold three Fighters instead of two.

While i never got to try any of these, because I had a hard time finding anyone that would play the game in the first place, I just remember being excited about the game and letting my creative writing Juices Flow about a game I love

it all depends on the country in question. no one unit is best for all of them. but here’s my picks :) :

Russia: INF, sheer numbers can overwhelm the german war machine on a relentles march to berlin

Germany: Tanks/Armor, blitzkrieg, thats all there is to it

UK: trannies, i know it sounds stupid, but without them the UK can’t do much of anything

Japan: anything, japan needs all the help she can get on the mainland, it doesnt really matter what it is, just get units there quick

USA: Carrier w/ 2 Fighters, can we say smackdown?? they can obliterate japan’s navy while also serving to protect units in an amphib assault

now these are just my picks, they might not work for all your strats, so feel free to tweak them to work for you.

I agree this is something I’ve never seen in a RL game. Maybe vs. the comp but even then…

Any invasion of North America proper with the exception of Alaska can be sniffed out pretty quickly. If the Germans are buying transports also that tells me they aren’t buying lots of inf, which means they aren’t worried about the Russians which means Russia is kaput which means the entire Allied game plan is pretty much kaput (economic victory usually follows caputre of Russia).

As was said above this, if you can somehow get things going and time a joint Japanese/ German assault where it would split the American ability to defend, but even then you would have to have a lot of troops since they can pile up 7 INF/ turn with only W and E USA.

for germany this would be hitler, boosting the ipc value of any german held territories by 1

Well I like Axis and Allies: Europe style SBRs. It seems only logical that interceptors and escorts would duel over the skies (though I’m not sure why the ATK/DEF stats aren’t the same) instead of just bombers barreling through AA fire.

You should without a doubt do something like that Mr.Admin.

This site already has a nice community, and with some help from hasbro and you should be able to have a game set on this site in no time.
