👋 Introduce or Re-Introduce Yourself (Current)

  • Hello all,

Recent viewer, new poster. Joined to gain broader knowledge and experience regarding Axis & Allies. I played Classic A&A for years, but set it aside until recently when it became a viable stepping stone for the newer/bigger versions of the game. Now my limited (3-4/yr) time is split between Classic and Global 40.

I recently obtained a print of Lt Dan’s version of Siredblood’s BBR map, and it inspired me to create a set of house rules regarding Minor Powers and accurately portraying their national objectives and political situations. It’s a work in progress and something I look forward to researching further

I have never seen such a perfect introduction to the forums quite like this one. Get an upvote, you!

    Hi Corpsman,

    Welcome to the site.

We suggest that you study the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion.

This might bring you inspiration for any House Rules that you can imagine.

  • @CentralCommando Greetings!

  • Hello commanders!

My name is Robin, somewhere in my middle age and hail from the Netherlands.

I’ve played some A&A a very long time ago at a friend’s house while I was a teenager.
It made a big impact on me then with its miniatures and such a cool looking game on the table.
But the game was expensive and I had little money. Besides it was difficult to find back then.

Life happened, but I’ve always remained interested in A&A.
I haven’t played since though, so I am a total noob at the moment, but I am confident that will change soon by engaging with this community.

My kids have also shown an interest in (war) boardgames, so I’ve ordered the Anniversary edition to play with them.

Looking forward to meeting people here in the coming time!

    @Yskonyn welcome to the forum.

Were you playing in the 80s or 90s?
    I started a university in 87.
Enjoy Anniversary. It is my favourite; I bought it when it came out all those years ago.

  • @Witt thank you! It must have been the early nineties.
I think it must have been the first boardgame I saw with miniatures. I was totally impressed!

We not only played the boardgame itself, but often used the mini’s to just play our own wargames.

Its nice to see A&A is still going strong.
I have played some Tide of Iron and own most of Memoir ‘44, but they don’t feature any bigger strategic gameplay.

  • @Yskonyn

Having miniatures was a gigantic step forward for Wargames versus the old cardboard squares. Add in big territories for movement and simple combat rules and it’s not hard to figure out why Axis & Allies became a fan favorite.

    WELCOME!!!

  • Hello all!

I am in my 30s and live in the US. I first got Axis & Allies Classic 2nd Ed. as a gift when I was a teenager, but I couldn’t usually find people to play with and mostly played against myself until I moved on to other games. By chance, I recently stumbled upon @The_Good_Captain ‘s YouTube videos on Don Rae’s essays and general Classic openings. They inspired me to think more about the game and eventually to find my way here.

I enjoy thinking about unconventional strategies for both sides and am hoping to find other novices to try them out against! I look forward to many losses in the future as I have never had the pleasure of playing someone significantly better than myself in this game. I am also intrigued by the large number of new Axis&Allies versions, which seem to be far more popular than Classic and hopefully have a more robust, established metagame.

Nice to meet you! I am not a very “online” person, so this is all a bit new to me.
