I’ve seen other allied players take Dutch Isles on T1 and then leave them unguarded as they moved on to the next isle. But you took it to the minimalist, only using a single infantry. Guess you figured Japan would take them with air support; so just get the most income as quick as possible at least cost. Your ANZ DOW got it some early N.O.'s, but gave me the option of not attacking U.S. this turn. It has advantages for all the Axis. U.S. gets more N.O.'s for a turn, but can’t move much. Ger built navy & bombers, but no troops for eastern front. Rus gets so much income, go build a dacha on the Caspian sea.
@FMErwinRommel For me, this game is all about economy and PU’s…If you have them, or can deny them to the enemy then eventually you win. The benefit of the early anzac dow is in the positioning of the uk destroyer. You cant load yr transports with an enemy in the water therefore holding japan off from the deis for at least another turn, if not two. Anzac got a full set of N.O.s and an isalnd…UK PAC has all home territorys and 2 islands…another 7 or 8 units in this round will make india very hard to take. Stopping japan growing too quick too fast seems to be the best way for the allies to grind the win out eventually!
Ha, I didn’t notice that you made the “Sneaky Karl” move with the UKP dd. That’s the only way an ANZ DOW makes sense. The color of the Jpn & UK units is similar. I didn’t notice that the dd was facing/slanted the opposite of the Jpn units. I usually read all of the movement history log while looking at the computer screen, but this time I read it on my cell phone. Normally, I go for China first anyway. But I was tempted by the empty isles. Touche.

You reduced the effect of sneaky Karl, by not garrisoning the isles. Japan was able to use 2 of the 3 transports to convoy 2 infantry in Shan to 2 empty UKPac islands. Plus I bombed India, so you can’t build more than 5 units. UKPac will still have a sizable army and it will take Japan longer than in G40 to take and hold Yunnan, let alone India. Not DOW U.S. has its costs, but Japan kept the 10 point N.O. and the U.S. can’t advance to Gibraltar, making it suicide for Brit.

@FMErwinRommel As Italy doesnt have to deal with the french in BM, they have a much freer hand against the UK. I find it better to withdraw, preserve units and then counter when the germans have their own fish to fry. Lossing all the infantry in iraq and aes was a blow though
