I think you’re right. Calculator seems to have a new bug - was showing me I could hit Tambov but was counting Japanese forces. If I chase the USN into the Indian Ocean then I’m not chasing the victory but if I don’t, they can just come back and cause Japan trouble.
Lost too many transports this game. I didn’t really think you’d buy the airbase in Normandy to kill two Italian TTs in SZ99, but I think it was worth it to do so now.
I’ll post your result. Let me know when you’re ready to go again. I might try a bit more defense rather than a hell for leather Moscow push.
@simon33 gg man! yah italy losing tts early on like that, without needing to, really hurts its cause. and yah your German defenses have to improve if you’re ever gonna become a master at this game. I mean, liberation of france at round 5 must be a record.
your Italians made surprisingly more progress than I had anticipated. in fact, you really didn’t have to lose Iraq! I had calculated that you’d be able to see it with all the axis forces combined. but was pleasantly surprised when you decided to go for my damaged cv and tp in 98, and allow me to take Iraq.
your Japan also got pretty strong, but the window of opportunity for a Japanese VC win closes quickly if you’re not on top of it. the Korean fac was a mistake, and allowing me to easily take the Phil was also, as it gave me some insurance in case you went all out for Hawaii, and not to mention, caused some threat in your underbelly.
let’s give it a rest today and tomorrow, and go ahead and kick off the new game on Monday.

also, as you took india and had the Chinese falling back in retreat, you should’ve bought more ships and pushed at me harder in the ocean and islands. you didn’t need to completely squash the Chinese, just keep them away from the coast. I feel you overbought on the land forces, as a pac win was the only feasible route for you, so lots of land units ended up being redundant, as I had no credible threat to the asian VCs.

I don’t think I’ve ever won with 6VCs in the Pacific. It’s something of a weakness in my game, I think. I really struggle with the idea of buying less than 3 inf in each Asian IC. You don’t want to lose any of them.
I definitely agree about defending The Philippines. I don’t see the worry about the Korean IC. 2 subs would have been better value perhaps.
