I think it may be a bad idea with a J1 DOW.
In a recent game I did a J1 DOW yet didn’t get India until J11 almost entirely because I took the Philippines with 1 artillery and planes remaining. This allowed a Java stack which I couldn’t attack J2.
This has an interesting corollary: You shouldn’t fear leaving no planes in India in the case of a J1 DOW. Your Burma stack UK1 combined with the SZ37 block prevented a J3 take down of India. Perhaps if I’d have handled it differently I may have gotten it J4. Not completely sure about that.
