We additionally have the “Home-button” 0_1542475153872_home.PNG that brings us to www.axisandallies.org - what is fine, IMHO.

Now those two buttons (Logo and Categories-View) actually lead to the forum home:

The Logo-Button is configurable in the settings. So when experimenting with the setting in …

… I did not find anything better than your pre-setting (=forum home) as default.

Maybe it should be just pointed out that every user can individually set his preferred page there (for example a special category):
