If in a sea combat the defending submarine survives and destroys the attacking destroyer the transport may not unload, because the attacker failed to clear the seazone from enemy units. The attacker would most likely retreat his transport, then.

Actualy if there was a sea combat it would continue untill there is only 1 side left in the combat.

You cannot ignore the sub halfway through the combat, you either ignore it or you dont. So in your example the transport MUST retreat or be sunk and therefore can never be near the intended landing zone. Unless the sub player submerges but why would anyone ever do that.

Sure, I did not say anything else. This situation is not a situation about ignoring submarines, after the first round of combat is over and the attacking destroyer has been destroyed. I talked about retreating, not about ignoring, then.

This situation is a situation where the attacker decides to retreat or not, following the retreat rules.
Most likely the attacker (transport) would retreat, for the reason you described.

Dutch are allies. You don’t need to convert these territories to uk or Anzac control to land fighters on them. The fighters can be landed the same turn as the troops.

Are you sure?  looking at the rules i see under Dutch Territories in the pacific rulebook that They are treated as friendly to allies except for UK/ANZAC guardianship.  under friendly neutrals it says you may not attack a friendly neutral or fly air units over it, but may move land units onto it in noncombat.

I assume friendly meant friendly neutral.  So we assumed that until the dutch territory has been controlled since the start of your turn by an ally, you can’t land on it.  I would love some clarification on this if anyone has it (preferably with a rule’s citation!)  thanks everyone!

I’m sure. Dutch aren’t friendly neutral. Although the rulebook doesn’t make this as clear as I would like. Most convincing bit is here:

I wish there was a defender decision phase between combat move and conduct combat to clarify these things. Declare kami, scramble and intercept are all effectively done before any dice are rolled.

There is.
Scramble happens at the end of movementphase (as the last thing)
Kami assignment happens as the first ting in combatphase, and are resolved before any combat begins
then you do bombing raids
then you do all your amphibous assault combats
then you do general combat.

RulebookE page 16 says

Scrambling is a special movement that the defender can
make at the end of this phase. It must be done after all of
the attacker�s combat movements have been completed

player can announce at the beginning of this phase that he or
she intends to launch one or more kamikaze strikes in that sea
zone. They are resolved before any combat begins.

It isn’t as obvious as what I would like. That’s all I’m saying. You have to dig into the nuances of the rules to understand how everything works.

Thanks. I definitely focused on the Industrial Complex and Japan/China Sections in the rulebook.

The Chinese have strange rules but the exceptions they get makes them exceptional. The ability to raise new units in a newly captured territory is overwhelmingly powerful. Even though they can only raise INF and ART, the ability to have one main stack and move it anywhere while building, instead of having to defend a particular territory, would be gamebreaking if China wasn’t restricted to Chinese territories and Burma and given a fairly low number of starting units.

Sometimes I find the units on the transports more valueable to eliminate than the transport itself.

In a RARE occassion, someone might opt to NOT scramble against such an attack, and let the infantry be destroyed instead!  :evil:
