I know this post is pretty old, but I agree Karl.

I have a friend that I played endless AA games with a long time ago (classic & revised days). We played AA50 a couple of times when it first came out, but he hasn’t played now for years. He is interested in playing again, so I dug out my AA50 game (had to replenish units I stole over the years). We are planning a game in the next week or so and I’m looking forward to playing AA50 again. I thought about going with 1942 2nd edition, but AA50 is so much better IMO. Who knows maybe he’ll make the jump to G40 after……

k***y must have really wanted two copies @ a total cost of $410.32 (shipping included), or maybe they were just shill bids?  Who knows…but it was those two auctions that directly led me to simply purchase some HBG and FMG Italian units and augment my 1942.2 game  :-P

i made 2 mods for TripleA’s aa50,

China takes their turn with Russia (plus a number of other balancing changes and some units moved around)

UK starts with a factory as a bid, meaning they place a factory somewhere on the board before the game begins (plus a number of other other balancing changes, and some units moved around)

both games have tech activation happen at the END of a turn, not right after you roll.  so for example, if i rolled for tech and got heavy bombers, then i would not get it right away, but instead would get it during the place-units phase at the end of the turn.

both games also have the options to use LHTR heavy bombers (roll 2 dice, pick best, if sbr add 1), and to turn tech off completely
and to use LOW LUCK dice, yay

This guy named randyjohnwayne on ebay claims he has games with upwards of 20,000 pieces at one time. He sells hundreds of pieces for AA games and hoards the good ones. I chatted with him on the phone before and i got some incredible stories of 1 hour battles just to resolve one freaking battle!

And no i have no idea how his games get to this level of madness. I guess his playing group does not like combat unless they get thousands of pieces.

Yes, I built a factory in India and Australia. The Japs went for Australia first but I was able to delay them with two of my destroyers so that Aussies could build two infantry before they could get there. Added to the already 3 you have plus the artillery, the AA gun, and an American fighter and bomber that landed there. Since he was after the Aussies this gave time for the Indian Factory to build 3 Armor plus the 3 infantry, 1 Artillery, and AA gun that are already there. I was going to send my South African troops to help in Egypt but, by this time the Axis was already losing in North Africa and I sent them to India. I considered building a factory in Canada to avoid the German Air power when I built 1 or two ships near the UK when my fleet was in the Med. In the end I didn’t but it would have been nice to have. There should be the ability to build in all of these areas from the beginning. Looking at the '42 scenerio it looks very hard to build a factory in India without losing it right away.
