This is all fine, no worries! However from the rulebook:
“8a - Scrambling/intercept/submerge/kamikaze assumptions - When you make an assumption, you are accepting the risk that your opponent will disagree after seeing your turn. If your opponent takes issue with an assumption, you should come to an agreement about how to handle it. If you don’t agree, then the defender can require that the entire combat phase be re-rolled from the beginning. Or, you may seek a moderator ruling.”
I don’t know if you are aware of this, but the way I read this is if assumputions were made the defender may ask for a reroll of the ENTIRE combat phase, not only this one battle. So, if I wanted to do that I believe my destroyer would roll again…
And if you think about it it has to be that way too, assuming you attacked with 2 subs and 2 tacs and 2 fighters (agaisnt dest and 3 fighters), it is a possible scramble, but most people would not scramble. Now assume you did not ask and you miss with everything on round one, sure it would be nice to scramble now, wouldn’t it?
I have made too many assumptions and nowadays I only make obvious assumptions, like you did here and then everything seems to work out!
You are right! I didn’t think to look at the rulebook! Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, I agree with you that with this rule the defender has the right to have the entire combat phase rerolled.
