I seriously do not know what happened in the Pacific. I must have totally skipped some NCM of some sort or another. I thought I was in reasonable shape, but you wiped out fleets 2 turns in a row. I think I missed your bombers being on Wake the first turn, but still I calculated only a 47% chance for you on that one in SZ55, and then the second turn I think I must have skipped a move.
I will continue for a while as I want to see how you defend the Middle East.
-
In that first battle in the pacific, the odds were slightly in your favour. But the odds assume max defense. Because the air has nowhere to land you had to keep the carriers alive and undamaged and take air as casualties from the beginning. Because of that the odds substantially shift in my favour. If you are able to do max defense there, than the carriers absorb almost all the first round hits and you don’t lose much combat power or units that can attack. With the role I got (which was the average rounded up) you would have lost 3 units for an attack power of 5. But because you needed to keep the landing zones you ended up having to lose 7 units with an attack power of 17. In my case, my carriers are cannon fodder and can absorb the hits without having any impact on my combat power. There was still some risk to me if I rolled terribly in that first round but short of really abysmal dice, even a defeat there is fine for me since it would be hard for you to have saved much of that air. And that air is really key since the threat of it also keeps the British and China contained.
I’m assuming the second one is where I hit your transports, sub and destroyer off of Java. You had bad luck there because the bombers got wiped out in your bombing raid on the previous Japan turn. I’m not sure what the odds would have been if they had survived but it might have allowed you to counter my fleet there and force me to wait a turn.
Still, German is a monster and I feel I misplayed Europe (most recently by sending that UK stack to Caucasus. Some good dice in the pacific and the battle in 55 may allow me to refocus on Europe in time to block a victory in Europe but its definitely not over.

I’m getting an error when I try to post the China turn. I posted a screen shot and a save game. I’ll try to play through but worried that I might get the same error on the UK turn.
Just tried to post this with teh saved game. Doesn’t seem to let me post so the problem might be with the server.
-
When I try posting the saved game I’m getting told that the upload folder is full. I’ll wait a bit before playing through.
-
Yes, I was getting an error posting in another game I’m playing. It must be the server.
-
I imagine it will get sorted out and I can post later. I’ll do the UK turn now. There is likely only one combat that will involve dice. I’m bombing stalingrad. But other than that there isn’t much that would confuse things if we had to reconstruct it. I’ll take screen shots too.

sent the file to your dice email.

I just sent my Ital turn #10 to your email.

I’m wondering if we both made mistakes in the last round
On that last US/China/UK turn I was preoccupied with limiting your entry into the Middle East and realized that I could only securely stack transjordan. So I then set up to do that. But the value of having a few land units in TransJordan as opposed to Egypt is minimal especially since I could use the US units to can open for the British.
In doing so I gave up Greece a turn sooner than I needed to and gave up a location that gave my air great range. And since most of that air is UK, I could extend that range if I needed with a US airbase. Having the air in Greece meant that I could threaten or reinforce most of Europe, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, and the Baltic. From TransJordan I can only really threaten the Mediterranean and the Middle East and I can’t reinforce Moscow. And given my other intentions, having that air in Greece would have been so useful on this next turn.It was a terrible move and its particularly frustrating because it was obvious to me as soon as I finished the turn. Because of that I was expecting you to pull back the German tanks and set up to attack Moscow. With all that air in TransJordan out of range I couldn’t hold it if you had done that. I might have missed something and you might have had good reason not too, but I was expecting you to do just that.
-
You may be right. I didn’t look closely, but I assumed I would not be able to take Russia. I assumed if I moved my Tanks to threaten Moscow, you would merely stack the British air there again. If I did manage to win, I would have very little left over. I have lost a game before after I took Russia but was too weak to hold off the Americans.
I thought your Greece takeover was brilliant. It’s proximity to Russia allows you to shuttle back and forth. An airbase would have been helpful, but I could see that I was giving you the option to save the Middle East by evacuating Greece.
Japan’s move is sent via email.
