Since we’re playing a global world war II game, how many of you personally know someone who was in WWII on the Axis side? Or had a relative or someone that you knew who served in an interesting theatre of WWII? I knew a man who served in the Kriegsmarine on a minesweeper. He was captured by the Russians and survived years in a POW camp, before emigrating to the U.S. I had an aunt that served as a nurse in India from 1942-1944. I had a neighbor, who served in the Asiastic fleet, (not the Pacific fleet) on a 4-stacker DD and gunboats along the China coast shortly before we entered WWII. And going back much further, my paternal grandfather was an assistant engineer in the Mexican navy around the turn of the prior century (1900).
