What if instead of creating tank (or panzer) formations, Germany concentrated on building more trucks (and some half-tracks although not enough can probably built for the whole army) to fully motorise their army? How would their performance during the war have changed?

Found this : the greatest asset of the MG42 turned out to be its ease of production. The MG34 was phased out in infantry units in record time (tanks continued to use the MG34 as it was better suited to fire from a drum).

Thus the answer is clear, the MG34 has the advantage of “open swing” when it comes to changing the barrels.
