USA1 buys a CV for New York, USA2 moves it to SZ123 but leaves the fighters on Iceland. USSR3 two planes leave Leningrad, kill the blocker and land on the USN’s CV. If the USSR Barents Sea sub is still alive that can join also.

Requires trimming my USA1 purchases to 1inf 1TT 2DD 1ftr 1CV.

Gotcha.  I think we’re talking about two different things though.

My understanding was the other poster was saying “Placing fighters in CUS is no different than placing them in EUS” which of course wouldn’t be the case.  I see your point though and I agree  8-)

When the US declares war on it’s 3rd non-com phase, the minor complexes are immediately converted to major and then the US can place 8 units in eastern US on it place units phase, right? Or do the complexes get converted on US’s next turn?

  Curious as to where you came up with the number 8. As minors produce 3 units and majors 10 units.

The particular game we were playing at that moment, the US had 8 units it wanted to place, assuming the complexes were able to be converted……but we had it all wrong anyway as we learned from this thread.

I’ve thought about an Allied Spain gambit for a while.  I believe if the Allies can somehow get Turkey and Spain it could work.  I definitely think that Spain can’t be taken early- I think its a late game tactic when the Germans press into Russia and leave France/Italy open- Spain maybe be a necessity to stop the VC win and gain an advantage.

I think a Spain gambit is tough, but someone is gonna figure a way to pull it off in certain situations.  Maybe you’ll be the one- keep thinking. :-)

well, in my games US does hardly something (let japan rot): they have hard time conquering india and containing Anzacs with very little support, and meanwhile italy is pummeled and germany stops its supply to eastern front cause allies can threaten with a whole lot of troops to conquer europe and berlin…

Just to be clear, nobody said anything about alpha.  We’re talking about the official game?

The monkeys in my games tend to favour a strong Mediterranean attack over a strong Indian defense, but I think J4 vs India works either way - just a question of how much Japan loses.

Sea units may share a sea zone with anyone.  Land units may not enter another power’s territory, and no other power’s land units may enter their territory.
