perhaps. but Egypt went better than expected for him. we’ll see. I just need to keep challenging him on all fronts, not play defensive like I used to against him. Egypt was, from that mindset, an essential risk :-)

Yeah, you gave you edge entirely away in Egypt. And I believe that was a mistake.
I think one can quite exactly calculate the max possible attack Italy can make on Egypt IT2 and be better prepared. Italy attacking Egypt is not like Germany attacking Russia. Italy is a scavenger for the Germans and in case they have they have a 60/40 shot to wipe everything in Egypt they should go for it, while Germans should not take a 60/40 shot on Russia unless they are desperate.I think the better choice would have been for example:
Indian transport to Persia round 1, one more fighter in range of Egypt and the UK bomber. Italys odds would been dropped to 30% then.As an alternative or addition buy a transport in SA. (e,g, 7 inf and 1 TT as UK 1 buy.)
I really think not losing Egypt that early that easily is very bad for the Allies.

Frankly, I disagree. 90% and +28 TUV for a battle that has no retaliation if it is won is a mistake and an invitation Italy can be grateful for.
As said, you had a big edge after that France disaster so you could have played more conservatively.
As suggested above, (and I meanwhile prefer this most) 7 inf +1 TT UK1 buy and Indian TT to persia. This gives you 4 more defenders dropping the odds to 38%.I am convinced that this is worth the price (passive UK with no additional figs and Indians with less money).
If you calculate the cumulative value for the Axis: Italian + German income (for the rest of the game probably) vs missing UK income and middle east problems.
Compared to the Indians have a few bucks less for 2-3 turns and UK less figs early this is peanuts. -
Egypt was under average for Italy.

In case you hold Egypt you also have the option to bring the fleet against Japan and thus compensate in the other theater for the missing Indian bucks. As you would have protected the TTs 81, they would have also been a great tool to bring additional units to India when they need them. We both know what an artist Adam is in the Pacific, thus holding Egypt would have even paid off in the other theater a few turns later.

yes yes, jdow I don’t think you know me well, not yet at least :) Adam knows how I feel about the game when it gets too scripted…what you’re describing is what I almost always do, and frankly it gets boring when I feel like I always have to do and buy a certain way to ensure a certain outcome (in this case guarantee Egypt). I don’t know if you’ve noticed yet, but just about all my games lately have been mostly off the beaten path. I’m doing risky (in some cases very risk), and un-scripted plays just to spice it all up for me. otherwise, with the number of games I play, I’ll get bored. OF COURSE I can save Egypt, but that wasn’t what I was looking for. instead, I purposely wanted to take more risks, live on the edge, and also, I wanted him to have to exert full effort to take it, rather than be free then to sweep the rest of the med easily, just like that.
I’m looking for more spice, and I don’t mind losing to make the games spicier and funner for me (and my opponents)! and I know this is going to be one of many games I will be playing with Adam, so losing here and there doesn’t make that much of a difference in the end.
besides, he’s the only M level willing to play me (hint hint), and is fast and of course very challenging.

your comments are always welcome! and appreciated! just wanted to be make sure you knew my mindset in the way I’m playing games these days, cuz I know I’m been doing some risky and also sometimes crazy/funny things.
I’m in no big hurry to beat Adam’s axis, I know this is only like game 2 of maybe 10 or 15 for this year :) I’ll get him, don’t worry. but I do suspect that some level of early risk-taking and doing unconventional/unscripted plays will be necessary to take down his axis. yes that means hoping for some good luck from those risks. I think the axis need to be stretched and pushed and pulled early on, forced to make tougher decisions early on, forced to deal with multiple fires early on.
