Axis & Allies and Zombies is REAL

Zombies are roughly the same size as infantry. A little bigger wouldn’t hurt and might look better.
Europe is the only area where space is tight, but that is true of all A&A games.

We played AAZ1942SE tonight. And we had fun! Still had some questions regarding US setup. Will come back to that.
But we had a fun evening. And a lot of unexpected stuff happened. That is part of AAZ. Some may not like that. And that is of course fully OK!

You can’t liberate and then attack the same zombie territory.

What do you want to say?

It is technically impossible to do that during the same turn:
Combat ends in step 8 and the territory is liberated in step 9 of the General Combat Sequence.
You never liberate territories during combat steps 3-8.

Of course you may attack zombies present in the liberated territory during the next turn.

Zombies makes it much easier for Sea Lion, it’s not a cake walk, but more doable. Because of the position of UK ships against Germany and because Germany goes before UK, Germany can effectively destroy UK’s navy. It also takes US two turns to reach London while Germany can do it in one and UK only produces 4 units against Germany’s 7 with 5 of that being on Germany itself. If Germany is able to wall zombies against USSR, it makes Germany using Sea Lion more doable.

Maybe time for a thread about the ‘good old days’ of Axis and Allies and boardgaming in general on the internet :)
Sorry to disrupt this AAZ forum but: thanks to wargamer.com, thanks to GeoCities (where I started), thanks to the various clubs, thanks to Peter Goudswaard (who?), thanks to David Jensen… Thanks to everyone older than me who kept the ‘brand’, the concept of Axis and Allies alive in the ‘dark’ 80s and 90s. When we could only dream about so many new games…
OK, I will stop NOW :)

I voted indifferent because I’m still holding out hope that:

The undesirable zombies can be house ruled out.

The map is a good medium sized map (a la Revised/42SE).

The “1939 Scenario” that the WOTC rep mentioned in his interview with A&A.org a few months back is fresh/worth playing.

I’m still willing to hold out hope because the only objectively terrible A&A games are 1941 and Spring 42, the latter of which is only terrible because the small map made the game unplayable.
