I ran the numbers on 110 and figured the risk was acceptable if I planned to retreat after the first round. Worst case scenario I would have (on average) lost all the ships and I would have killed one of your planes in the process (again, average). Only when I got an extra plane kill on the first round and took one fewer hit did I decide to stick it out.
