U.S. should not have attacked Ita dd. By waiting for Ita to attack, it would have forced it to decide between the subs and N. Persia. Ita would have chosen N. Per for the extra 2 P.U. and another reason.

Witt, I made your decisions easy for you this past turn by leaving easy targets. I suspected Jpn would go after the money isles, so I adjusted everything to fortify Java with all available ftrs. Brit ground units abandoned China to take the place of ANZ ftrs in Shan, thus unable to retake HK if attacked. I had no subs left to take as a hit while attacking Jpn DD by Sum. So when the DD returned fire, I took a ftr as a hit instead of bomber. But that meant I was short a ftr in Java. Which required sacrificing a tt to reinforce Java with ground troops. Which left only 1 tt in reserve to retake northern isles if Jpn invaded them. Every turn, I also had a bomber available from the IC on the way to Asia, until this turn. I should have taken a bomber as a hit instead of the ftr, and kept the tt at home in reserve. You might not have taken the Solomons if I could take it back easily.

This has become a naval battle of DD and sub sniping and attrition between Jpn and the Allies. ANZ has been building all subs for 2 turns, since its air force is already adequate.
This has forced Jpn to spend most of its income on DDs to keep from running out. Now that JPN IC in China can be bombed every turn, they can’t afford to build troops, giving Chi a 2-1 advantage in ground troops. This may change now that Jpn’s cash from Rus terr has grown to 8 per turn. But Jpn has fleet has retreated Malaya and has reason to fear the ANZ air and sub combo. -
