AA50 is a lot less time consuming, faster turns, less NO’s to keep track of, and don’t forget - fun technologies! 'member technology? 'member wanting to roll a 6?
Never played AA50 but I looked up what’s different - it allows you to keep your research tokens after unsuccessful research. Different to G40 where you lose them. Triple-A supports both - it’s an editable map option.
Interesting that you remember this as a change making more fun! Also I guess a faster game means you’re losing less time investment with an unsuccessful tech investment.

@simon33 I’m glad you commented about AA50, I found them (your comments) very interesting. Thank you for mentioning you’ve never played it. Yes you can play it in TripleA. Yes, a lot of players were surprised that G40 did not keep the tech token rule.
It’s the bridge between G40 and the old games. Every A&A lover should at least play it some and be familiar with it in my opinion.

We play A&A50 a lot here in the Bay Area, so it lives on. Basically it has some of the feel of G40 without being too long etc.

Although that being said, A&A50 does have its warts, especially some of the crazy moves the map allows.
Being able to move the Japanese Fleet from FIC to take Cairo in 1 move is a head spinner.

I don’t really like the capturable AA gun either. Although I don’t like inbuilt AA either.
