Looks to me like that’s a big win for @peirce !
I wonder how high your rating will get. What do you think about PtV? Just discover it recently, or?
-
@axis-dominion I figured out how to sort the overall standings without screwing up the formulas.
So you can gaze at the leaderboard and revel.
Shall I put it in flashing lights? Well, I thought of a way to highlight your feats and achievements.11 games completed this year? Almost no one has more, and they’re not playing at your level.
Now I’ll stop interrupting you so you can bomb something.

@gamerman01 Thanks! I’ve played for years on the live platform, and no one really plays PtV there, so most of my games are OOB or BM. I think PtV is fantastic - it irons out all of the gripes that I have with OOB and BM. Hard to get used to the carrier/scramble play though!

Claiming this by bumping but it is weird because Japan has 6 victory cities. Seems he’s gone missing. Crazy game with an early sea lion.

@simon33 You had that game in the bag a while back.

If I hadn’t have grabbed the Middle East around the time London was liberated it may not have been so clear cut though, assuming that then USA would have invested more in the Pacific.
-
@simon33 Whenever Axis TUV is equal to Allied, that’s a massive problem for Allies - with all of the extra factories/harbours/airfields, Allies should always be ahead if the game is even, as their supply chains are longer. Plus, you’d captured 2x Pacific capitals, and Germany was doing just fine. Even if there isn’t a direct certainty to winning during the next round(e.g. Japan conquering the last Allied Pacific bastion in India on its next turn), the writing can still be on the wall. If the player is a good one (as you are), and isn’t going to make a glaring mistake, then it can be a foregone conclusion just based on TUV and income.
-
@peirce I did lose Berlin at one point though. I thought that could be it but I could counter attack and hold my ground. A couple of points I felt like I had gotten off easily. I don’t mean to be rude to bombs away because I obviously made mistakes too but I don’t really think declaring on Japan as USSR was in their interest, for example. Also towards the end, Rome was really vulnerable but it wasn’t attacked. Without the scramble the fleet would’ve been toast. I guess attacking Rome would have eased pressure on w Germany.
What has really surprised me about this game is how difficult it was to win in spite of the low cost sea lion winning. Luck in the med, an early miscue by Japan conspired to make it quite a challenging game even though I was expecting to prevail for quite a while.

Very interesting post game comments, pretty much requires a quick look!
UK had an awfully good roll round 1 on Sealion defense, reaching nearly double the number of expected hits,
All the German resources used to buy 9 transports, 2 air lost to AA, another lost on the bombing run on G2, the Russians could never be tamed.
Not a criticism! I see a lot of great play. More of a commentary that it’s surprising how succeeding taking London even without a highly risky battle seems to be fool’s gold. Wow. I mean, you even cut all funding to a UK1 IC in Egypt and it wasn’t enough. Now glancing at US placements, yeah. In a cursory review, it seems Sealion won you the game. It pulled so much USA IPCs to the Atlantic, and Japan won. Oversimplified, probably, but cursory review from the outside.

the 2 air lost to the AA was pretty much average, 11 dice@1. Forgot about losing a bomber G2 but I did buy one G1. I lost fleet US2 in z21 but what was really annoying for me was getting a double hit in z97 UK1. That meant the UK CV could run to the Red Sea and then return to the Med and block the Italians from attacking Egypt. I never really shifted that fleet completely and I think it changed the complexion of the game significantly. Also, I spent to much effort attacking Gibraltar. Italy got a great income but never really made a huge impact.
