Well, that puts me out of the main playoff then!
Good to see a full bracket for OOB.
uh, what does that mean? I have not intended to take someone else’s place!! I am also fine with playing only either BM or OOB
-
@pacifiersboard it’s all good. Simon just means that he drops out of the top eight. But he can still play in the playoffs and you joining in isn’t pushing anyone out

No trouble.
You have just played that much better than me and earned a higher place.
-
@farmboy Ah, right, that was the whole point of notating the draw game in the rankings.
I don’t think it’s OK for me to hold things open since everyone’s signing up by the deadline, but if I hear from him really soon… that could be arranged given he’d be the #1 seed in the playoff. Anyone heard from him since earlier this year?
-
@gamerman01 yeah. I thought it was worth reminding him but if he hasn’t posted yet, it makes sense to just go ahead.
-
Thanks for both posts - looking over the signups almost everyone who’s eligible for top 8 in each version has signed up (we all know Trulpen’s down unfortunately), so I’ll get things launched.
-
The playoff brackets and matchups are done
Time to start your engines!
Many will get to play someone they’ve never played before - the bracket decides!
Exciting stuff. Have fun and be a good sport!Brackets are in a separate sheet in the standings spreadsheet. You may start immediately.
-
In the balanced mod, 2nd bracket, both Sovietishcat and Avner get “byes” for the first round due to their #1 and #2 status.
EVERYONE else who signed up can play now
-
Isnt it a litte lame to have a sepeeate bracket with ABH and dawgoneit?
Isnt it better to have a play in game between 7 amd 10 for 7 seed and 8 and 9 for 8 seed?
Or ask the people involved. I would see little motivation personally to participate/compete in a bracket of 2.
-
I know. It HAS been done before (last year)
Hopefully ABH and dawgoneit don’t mind, some players don’t.We’ve also done play-in games before, but that affects everyone in the bracket, slows the whole bracket down. We still have 2 brackets from the 2021 playoffs undone as you know. Or did I miss the result between you and cat?
So I’d rather have a bracket of 2, or else have 2 of the 10 players say they’re fine with retracting their signup, than to have 8 players slowed down, and the #1 and #2 seed having to wait quite awhile for others to see who is the #7 and #8.
Plus… with the OOB playoff contenders ranging from Myygames at 6.00 to our beloved Dawg at 2.50, frankly the #1 vs the winner of the play-in game (and the #2) would not be competitive. I don’t want the #1 and #2 waiting several weeks for a non-competitive game. GAAA I didn’t want to have to say that.
Do you have any other solution? I don’t want to ask for 2 players to drop out. This is blunt also, but the rules could provide that only the top 8 for each game get a playoff, and nobody else gets an organized playoff. But we’ve had provisions for as many players as possible to get gripping playoff action.

I almost forgot -
Everyone,
The higher seed has the right to make the first bid, or to defer. -

I don’t really know how the 2nd-bracket works - its winner gets a shot at winner of “1st-bracket”?
Anyhow, an alternative solution crossed my mind: Maybe some (i. e. two at least) players of 1st-bracket volunteer to play an additional match against a player of 2nd-bracket.
If these two games are won: everything fine.
If the volunteer looses in 1st and wins in 2nd bracket, both he and the 2nd-bracket player will drop out (ofc)
If the volunteer looses both matches, it will be a bit of bad luck for the 2nd-bracket-player, but both will drop out, too.
If the volunteer wins in 1st and looses in 2nd bracket, he may feel a bit unlucky, but will give his spot in 1st-bracket to the originally 2nd-bracket-player.I would volunteer in such way obviously.
-
Also possible that only the winner of 2nd-bracket will play against a volunteer that I offer to be in case I will still be in the running by then.

Wait, I don’t see my record of Simon signing up for a playoff. Checked this thread and my messages - did you sign up, Simon?
-
Pacifier, I keep 1st and 2nd brackets totally separate. There will definitely not be any scenario for the 2nd bracket winner to play the first. If you win 3 games in the first bracket, nothing can take that away from you.
I’d have to re-read your suggestions a couple times to understand them, but first I’ll check with ABH and dawg to see if they’re willing to be a champion after playing one game.
-
Alright, apologies for writing style (I am no native speaker and my writing in German also often reads weird ;)
Additionally, I had wrong premise:
@pacifiersboard said in Post League Game Results Here:I don’t really know how the 2nd-bracket works - its winner gets a shot at winner of “1st-bracket”?
My suggestions had been based on that assumption. I hadn’t known this:

Shoot -
Hold up on the second bracket of BM playoffs - I sent a PM to @simon33 in case I missed his signup. He would be #1 of the 2nd bracket, I believe, so would shake the whole thing up. Sorry if you’ve already tried to start - let me know if you have started a game in 2nd bracket.

OK, I understand it now. You volunteer to play ABH or Dawg, and maybe someone else volunteers to play the other of ABH or Dawg. These games can then be done concurrently. If ABH or Dawg wins against the volunteer, and the volunteer wins his first playoff game, then ABH or Dawg take his spot in the 2nd round of the main playoffs. Any other result, ABH or Dawg is out.
I messaged ABH and Dawg, if they are both happy with the current set up than that’s that. Thanks for thinking about how to maximize enjoyment for all who want in the playoffs.
-
I only really wanted to commit to the playoffs if I made the main bracket. I don’t want to commit to the second bracket and then not follow through.
