Regarding 80 bid low luck G40 game.
@JDOW said in Post League Game Results Here:
Also not sure if I would take all those figs except 111 and take plenty of ground units instead.
In fact, all those fighters were awesome. Game is still ongoing but I’m expecting a narrow allied win, with an asterisk from when oysteilo reminded me I had forgotten a blocker. Game was nearly lost in China of all places, with the Chinese unnecessarily allowing the Japanese through to take India J5 after a J2 DOW, by China spreading themselves too thin.
I would still be pretty confident with a minimal bid of 54:
DD SZ91
ftrs Scotland, Moscow, Stalingrad, Malta
Sub SZ98.Take it up to 61 and you can add a mech in Burma and an inf in Yunnan which makes most of the battles more sure and also deters the J1 DOW. A couple of battles still aren’t certain and could go against you but in most cases I think the allies should win out there.

keeping in mind with a 80 bid you might have lost this game if i had been more carefull and rushing all my german and italien planes to india. Then your liberation of india is very weak and possibly I could have taken india again with germany while still grabbing on to hawaii
I think you are on thin ice if you do (much) less than 80 (low luck)

JDOW (allies +8) pushes around, kicks, steps on and humiliates, 666 again…

666 is exaggerating a bit :-) Allies got the chance to make a painful attack at WGR rather early in the game, not only to wreck havoc to the MIC but also kill 2 figs and 2 bombers. The Germans never recovered from that. That was the main turning point that made the game an uphill battle for the Axis for 8+ turns.

Oh, does this nuance make such a bit difference Jim?
This was unintended, I am just not a native speaker and tend to translate idioms literally which is not always the best choice I am afraid^^ -

This was unintended, I am just not a native speaker and tend to translate idioms literally which is not always the best choice I am afraid^^No, no, just the opposite, you did “smack me around”, I am humbled, literally, of your solid play. I find it to be very very impressive that a few, not me, can win this dice game so regularly and convincingly. I was laughing at your humbleness.
-
Ok, got you. Thanks for the positive feedback then, much appreciated.
I think your basics are definitely solid, but you miss to show the necessary level of dedication playing both sides. In this game, both Germans and Japanese didn’t intend to make any major breakthrough, neither to Egypt, nor India or Moscow and even the Eastern Russian territories were untouched for a long time.
In the previous games, you missed an opportunity to squeeze my German stack at Caucasus by moving your Russian stack to Rostov and make a full stack with UK at NWP.
Although my Germans would have escaped as they were all fast movers, you would have seized Caucasus. Not sure if this would have been enough, but once I realized I can hold Caucasus easily, I knew the clock was ticking in my favor.
With your power move, I would have had further work to achieve this. -

I’m wondering where the bar is. I suspect it becomes more competitive near the 60 bid mark. I didn’t play the allies optimally in the Pacific either. I would be interested to see how such a game would go with a J1 DOW. Adam514 reckoned that is what he would do with a Yunnan stack.

Sounds wise. Don’t overdo it.
