I find it hard to believe that I couldn’t win on luck as allies with a bid of 80. Against anyone. So many starting attacks can be blocked. Taranto and the sz92 stack are on, perhaps combined with Tobruk and/or Ethiopia.

I am pretty sure you will loose a 80 bid game, given it is low luck and global 2nd ed rule set
I tend to go with simon here. 80 bid sounds juicy. Although I never played low luck, I would tend to prefer Allies in that scenario.
200 would be ridiculous. 100% Allied win.
@JDOW i think It all depends. 200 should be way too much. I agree.
It’s also about what you bid. In a 200 bid you could get like 16 russian fighter, 1 fighter for scotland, 1 dest for 110, 1 sub for 111 and 1 sub for Egypt and some change… probably hopeless.
For a 80 bid and now luck… how about 8 russian fighters… I tend to believe the axis has a pretty good chance

Still a 2.8% chance of attacking SZ91 successfully but who would try? Given that you can’t lose in SZ96 with 2 planes, most of the allied start should follow the script. I guess 2 subs would go at SZ106.
The point here would be keeping a big chunk of the home fleet, preventing a SZ112 German fleet and also preventing the J1 DOW. Perhaps the SZ110 sub might not be smart - not too sure.

Also not sure if I would take all those figs except 111 and take plenty of ground units instead.

You understand the point of the soviet fighters though, which is to stack up yunnan?
I’m not convinced about the bb either, you definitely need something and a dd does shift the odds against a g1 attack on sz91. It doesn’t however do much to threaten sz112 or contribute as much to a sz92 stack.
Perhaps with the extra fighter you don’t need to worry as much about sea lion. But only one inf, assuming you are putting an airbase on Gibraltar and a fighter for London seems skinny. The Malta fighter and med sub makes attacking taranto without the cv reasonably safe.
Anyway, that is what I was thinking.
I do understand the „yunnan bid“ and not sure if I‘d go for it.
Well, with 2 extra figs it might be worth it.
But I guess we won’t find out anyway:-)
