Multiple! Sorry for your losses.

Very interesting!
Great points.
Apparently BM did decline significantly in 2025. The rules are set in January, so a year ago 3, 3, and 6 were the right requirements. They could be changed at the end of the year, but only if participants agree, because all year everyone was operating under the knowledge that it took 6 BM games to qualify. The 3 game minimums are also a factor for some players, deciding on the timing and mode to play during the year. So as far as 6 being too many, well, BM can simply be changed to 3 for 2026, but
We seem to be fine for 2025 and it’s not 12/31 yet.
Farmboy might be arranging for his 6th BM completion gameOne or two who have 5 games - not sure they have been around lately anyway.
Zarhunter just signed up, so even without farmboy we have 7, which would be one bye for Axis-Dominion which isn’t really a problem. So as Simon noted, even if I were to change the requirement to 3 right now after the whole year is over, it would hardly even make a difference anyway, surprisingly.
So we have 7 for BM and there will be 1 bye, or in the event that farmboy gets 6 and wants in, there will be a perfect 8. BM minimum requirement will be lowered to 3 games for 2026

Thanks gamer! I definitely would want farmboy in even with 5 games, wouldn’t make sense for the defending champ to miss the requirement by 1 game lol

I did prod farmboy for a game in September and reminded him of the qualification requirements but he thought he had enough games on his plate. Not sure his current game will be wrapped up but I guess he always has the option to concede the loss at any time, even if he thinks he is winning.
Thought pacifiersboard might play. Adam sitting it out again, it seems.
-
I expect to be joining the bm tournament at least and will concede that game to do so if needed. Still 3 days left to play so will make the decision last minute
-
We still need an 8th for OOB. Is @gamerman01 interested?
-
Thanks Simon,
I’m involved in a couple A&A competitions here on A&A.org, (including the 2024 playoffs) where 1 game led to another. I hesitate to enter because I haven’t started game 2 of the 2024 playoffs yet.
BUT if other participants in OOB 2025 playoff are OK with me being slow to catch up, then I would join. I think it’s a bad look for me to enter and be slow, but if no one protests, well…

Classic double elimination tournament, 2v2 G40 tournament, and the 2024 playoffs
I’m in the last game of the 2v2 and not too much left in that Classic tournament, and not accepting any more games so maybe I am viable for 2025 playoff, especially if the 8 seed isn’t as much trouble as Pacifier was
-
I am not qualified, but would participate if invited…:)

I’m going to grant you the same exception as farmboy in BM. He was one game short but in round 19 of a game that just can’t be called yet, and he is a key player in that playoff.
You are in a 2 year long 21 round struggle that can’t be decided yet, and are also 1 game short and a key player, and you want in.
@oysteilo I’m entering you in the OOB playoff, very similar circumstance to farmboy where a long game shouldn’t be called quite yet
-
Cool…
-
i only want if people want me in, if someone say no to gamerman in pm it is cool. I only want if it is nice to complete the brackett
-
Let’s see what we have on 1/1
The playoff would be a stronger field of competitors if you are in it
-
Wonder what people think about having a “Tournament of Champions” every 4 years or so.
Entrants would be the winners of the past 4 annual “regular” tourneys. If there is a 2x or 3x winner (or a non-participant), then next eligible would be multiple-finalists, then finalists with most semi-finals, etc. Each would be a 4-player tournament, with 2 rounds. Probably randomize the initial match-ups.
Benefits of such an event:
-
An “Olympics” type event to give some extra excitement and bragging rights to the winners.
-
Serve as the benchmark for top-level play in the current meta. Very instructional for other players looking to improve their play.
-
The entrants into the Tournament of Champions would not be eligible to play in the “regular” annual tourney in the respective event (OOB, BM, PTV). Thus there is an opportunity for a new player to emerge as an annual champion.
-
Could stagger the ToC tourneys - i.e. 2026 is an OOB ToC year, 2027 a BM ToC year, etc.
This would depend on the willingness of prior champions to play in such an event. Hopefully the winners from 3-4 years ago are still around and in the league.
-
-
@Booper This would require 12 people per version playing in either the tournament on champs or regular playoffs, so I think we would need to focus on getting overall participation up first, but it’s an interesting idea.
-
@simon33 @gamerman01 and all dear fellows!
More than the playing itself I miss the interaction with you so I just have decided that I wanna join playoffs for OOB and BM once more and participate in this nice community. I had a tough year and haven’t had a match for months, but some things have changed to the better and maybe this turns out true for my play-style too… it is 2026 in Germany already but could be just in-time for signing in? Happy new year
-
Oh f!@#. That puts me out of the playoffs for BM!
-
no worries! I had been aware of this concern but double checked only with the signup sheet, according to which you were ranked #7 - and I was so keen assuming that my bud @fasthard were easy with giving his spot in playoff. But actually it is the other way round, so @gamerman01 let’s keep things simple and cancel my BM signup.
Regarding OOB I suggest that if no 10th player signed up that I will both stay in that playoff and challenge @dawgoneit for a regular match - together with my son (11 years old soon) !! So you will never know whose play you will face in our next turn.
Sounds good?
