@dawgoneit Note sure what the issues are with using the released version, but this was the one I was directed to when I started playing again.

Checking bid rules, noticed our new rule that past league champion is automatic #1 seed.
Give me a few minutes, hold up
OK, so panicked there, but we only have 1 playoff champion from 2024 as previously stated, and that is
Farmboy won BM
Therefore Farmboy is #1 seed BM this year. That makes @axis-dominion #2 instead of #1, and Adam514 #3 instead of #2.
Fortunately I didn’t hype up any of those matchups. Good luck facing the buzzsaws, boys
Bracket for BM is up to date for the new 2025 rule that reigning champion gets automatic #1 seed. Everyone may proceed

now, where oh where is former heavyweight @JDOW hibernating all these years… won’t you come back already?
JDOW occasionally lurks, sometimes even closely following a championship game occasionally. I think he would be very difficult but not impossible to resurrect. A truly remarkable track record here, and did you see his interview with @crockett36 that I think is less than 1 year old? Some real nuggets of A&A advice in there, along with all the generally fascinating/interesting thoughts all around them

yeah i was in communications with him recently, he promised he’d make a comeback lol
@gamerman01 Thanks Gamer, love the annual write ups

still not happy that pac gave up his seat in the bm playoffs, but it’s what it is i suppose. glad he’s back, tho, and i’ll try to get a game or two with him outside of the playoffs
I’m going to say I have a lot of sympathy for this position. I really shouldn’t have played Adam and dropped my standing in the league, and also the second game with bobbarossa.
Anyway, it is what it is.

Gamer, I generally prefer to bid up instead of down if I’m initiating the bid (i.e. I’ll take Axis and give you 40). I didn’t see anything in the rules against this, but would obviously preclude being able to specify what the bid is spent on. Is that ok?
Yes totally OK. If both players agree, you can agree to sides however you want.
However, if there’s not agreement, then the league “defaults” are there to make the decision for you. Even the league defaults do not specify bidding up or down, and certainly nothing about disclosing placements before bidding is over. I was just throwing in an idea now that OOB bids are quite high and some players prefer knowing what that +50 or +60 is going for before deciding. Thanks for the respectful question
Great! Thanks for the clarification.
@simon33 pointed out I mixed up 7-8 seeds in BM
@farmboy plays simon
@axis-dominion plays @fasthard
I hope it’s straightened out in time that no one suffered
@gamerman01 Can someone link the postings please.
Is a sheet in the ELO Rankings spreadsheet, and that link is located in the league rules but also
On the opening post of this thread
@farmboy you two related?

@axis-dominion lol. Not that I know of
like father like son

we seem to follow each other around here. We will have to get him to join league.

lol yeah i seem to notice you two online together. just having some fun
How do I find a particular game given the game number? I’ve been trying to understand the high bids in OOB Global tourney games over here, which are so different from what I’m used to. So now I used the spreadsheet to see the tourney results, and it shows the game ID numbers for the tourney games, but with that I still have trouble actually finding that particular game thread so I can get the save from it and really look it over. Manually looking through the long list of threads hasn’t worked, the sites’ search features hasn’t worked, nor has googling this site worked.
@zlefin Welcome to this forum, @zlefin.
The game number (game ID) is identical to the thread/topic number.
So for example find game # 42331 here:
https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/42231/
Thank you; now is there a way to get the game number from the player query tool? Not all the tourney games had a game number listed in the playoffs tab, so I searched them in the player query, but while that lists the game results and data, I can’t find the game number in it.
Agh! You’re probing into my deficiencies so rapidly.
Consider it a bonus that the game ID was in any of the playoff cells - that was my idea and no one has ever given feedback and said they appreciate it. I tended to prioritize the hotter matches between top players in there.
I’ll start putting game ID’s in for every single game result - that’s easy since players are posting the link. @Panther gave you one of the more wonderful and overlooked features of A&A.org - the ID# in the URL.
I’ve never been asked to track ID numbers of games, believe it or not. The benefits are immediately obvious and the cost is minimal. Good ol’ gamerman01 will pick up the tab
@zlefin you’ve really oriented to our system quickly. We have players who haven’t noticed the ELO spreadsheet for months after playing their first league game.
Are you going to play here? or maybe you’re just gleaning valuable information from a good sized pool of avid G40 players and going back to your group.
