I am, really! It will help me focus in life, too 🤗

Happy New Year altogether!🙂
Please note that I withdraw from my participation in the OOB Playoffs. It should be fine then with 8 players.
I was already wondering if I really have the time for an additional game, and I actually don’t. Enjoy the OOB Playoffs 👍

no worries! I had been aware of this concern but double checked only with the signup sheet, according to which you were ranked #7 - and I was so keen assuming that my bud @fasthard were easy with giving his spot in playoff. But actually it is the other way round, so @gamerman01 let’s keep things simple and cancel my BM signup.
Regarding OOB I suggest that if no 10th player signed up that I will both stay in that playoff and challenge @dawgoneit for a regular match - together with my son (11 years old soon) !! So you will never know whose play you will face in our next turn.
Sounds good?
@pacifiersboard you’re the higher ranked and frankly more competitive player, and so that is your deserved spot and I don’t understand why you’d give it up just to let a much lower ranked player compete? This is meant to be a highly competitive playoffs so the best players able and willing should ideally take those spots, or else we are just diluting the competition unnecessarily and doing a great disservice to the league and its competitive nature. I hope you’ll reconsider that decision and take your rightful spot. There’s a secondary playoff that accommodates the next tiers down, and therefore everyone has an opportunity to compete in a playoffs.
-
i don’t qualify any ways. plus you don’t want a lower level person mess up the flow of the game.

not about messing up the flow of any game. playoff tournaments are by design meant to be competitive and one person comes out at the top. what i’m saying is that ideally the most qualified who are willing and able should sign up and take those limited spots in the top tier playoffs. we have secondary playoff options (and in some cases i’ve seen a third level!) to accommodate anyone who doesn’t qualify for the primary bracket.

@AndrewAAGamer This brings up a sticking point. Or an opportunity for growth on the site, perhaps not the league. If one were considering every other playoff or tournament, face to face, one would think that a multi-player tournament would be more immersive and closer other competitions and much closer to an actual war room experience. Think the decision at Midway to change the armament so they could attack the US carriers, delaying the relaunch and dooming the fleet.
The league is part of the site. The site has a sister site, Triplea-game.org. These two are a cousin to the Beamdog venture. There are communities active on youtube, BGG, facebook and other social media apps. This all runs parallel to the local ftf games and the convention tournaments. Even that has a sister community with the Bloodbath community. I would urge all of the league to figure out how to stay connected with the broader community and a viable option for new people that are entering or reentering. That is one of the reasons I stay connected to OOB and resist BM & PTV. And the more connected we are to the broader community, the greater the chance the league will grow and the greater the prestige that our yearly tournaments will have.
Just some thoughts, AndrewAAgamer. I have said a million times that you have saved OOB by raising the average bid and making the Allies a viable power for high level players.

This crockett36 post pretty well stands on its own, though -
OK, I think I’ve sorted through the last week and 1/1 playoff entrance drama and know what to do! This includes my own drama.
I need to eat lunch after sleeping in, and then will be back to start setting things up. There will probably still be a question and confirmation or 2 before all 3 can be finalized, but I will finalize each one as quickly as I can for any who are hoping to start their 2025 playoff game on holiday
It looks like we will just have 1 2nd playoff, for PtV, and personally I’m glad for that. I think we’ll have 3 nice clean 8 man brackets, and as always, there will be thrilling matchups

I would absolutely be inconsiderate of all my current opponents if I irresponsibly entered the 2025 OOB playoffs. We have yet to start the semi-final of the 2024 OOB playoffs 😳
Without Martin or me, but with @pacifiersboard, we have a perfect 8. And like @axis-dominion clearly said, @pacifiersboard definitely juices up any bracket he would be in.
Bracket is on a new tab for the 2025 playoffs, check it out and you may begin bidding!
Not required, but recommended - list what you would spend your bid on while you’re bidding. With high OOB bids, it can help a lot if you each knew what starting setup you’d be facing.
Pacifier’s Board and @oysteilo - you are assigned a rematch of last summer!!
-
Likewise, the Path To Victory brackets set up very nice and neat, with all top 8 qualifiers participating. That’s the 100% dream scenario.
@axis-dominion caught on the game quickly, rocketing to #1 in about 1 years’ time (doesn’t he just make you sick?) but if he and @Adam514 make it to the finals, the numbers say they are a dead heat. Edge to the one who was on the development team, I would think
The eighth seed is an avid PTV player with a 1610 ELO rating, good for “Elite” tier status. What a field.
The winner of the PTV field would arguably be the top league winner for 2025 - it’s where the coolest kids are playing these days??!With great infamy and notoriety, 666 makes himself comfortable in the, that’s right, 6th seed. He will have his hands/claws, full with ghostglider, believe me.
@Stucifer to tangle with @Adam514
Maybe a nice little pit in the stomach, there, Stu knows what’s he’s dealing with after a match 1 year ago. Well, at least you can tell the wife (or pet?) that you’ll be more available in a couple monthsAnd @mikawagunichi … Just slow him down a bit, OK? May you roll a lot of 1’s and 2’s. For yourself. Not for him. No, don’t. We don’t want to hear the rants.
A little artistic license, you know I like to spice it up and hype the playoffs a bit on Jan 1! Pretty exciting, new year, new brackets, assigned matchups based on all-time ELO positions. If you’re offended, I didn’t mean it that way.
PTV brackets are set, so you can start bidding! Will anyone dare a bid bigger than -12?? I notice Adam for example has been going with -14’s and -15
C’mon, top seeds, make it sporting and throw in an extra battleship somewhere… 😜 -
The 3 man PtV 2nd bracket is also set up.
@ArtofWar1947 earned the bye, and will await the winner ofWinner of the 3 players emerges as an undefeated playoff champion!
-
Balanced Mod 4, we have an incredibly strong top 4, no disrespect to anyone. 1 - 4 have been household names around here for years. This is of course an opportunity for someone else to BECOME a household name, or at least start the long process. Good luck! You’ll need it!
Playoffs are amazing - everyone will lose except for 1, and it’s hard to imagine 3 out of 4 of these actually losing, even to each other.
Do NOT start a game in Balanced Mod quite yet.
We do have 9 entrants and I am absolutely not in favor of a play-in game here, unless you play for 1 round and winner is the one with more TUV 😂 yeah that was a joke. Although, if you bid 500… it would be close.
No one wants any of the top 4 to bow out, even if they’ve been teetering (like the wife or gf has been trying to discourage entry or something)
Not fun, but I’m just gonna do it:
@surfer @Avner @simon33 @fasthard @zarhunter
Is anyone less than resolved to enter? On the fence? Unsure? Scared?
We have one player too many and if no one gracefully bows out, which you are NOT expected to do, then I will simply not be able to allow Zarhunter in because not top 8, and no one else to pair with. -
I did just rearrange the playoff board, in case you’re looking at it right now.
PTV should be on top, is now most prestigious in my opinion
-
And… lest we forget the 2024 playoffs,
Only one has concluded within 1 year - the Balanced Mod 4 champion for 2024 is farmboy
A PtV final between @Daaras and @axis-dominion is on US10, and the semi-final for OOB has not yet begun, with @farmboy waiting for the winner!
-
@gamerman01
Simon just sent me a play in bid. I am ok to play in but do not want to bow out unless you tell me to not play. -

Gamer, I generally prefer to bid up instead of down if I’m initiating the bid (i.e. I’ll take Axis and give you 40). I didn’t see anything in the rules against this, but would obviously preclude being able to specify what the bid is spent on. Is that ok?
-
thanks gamer, really love the spiced and hyped tournament opening statements, really appreciate them! definitely creates additional excitement in the air!
while adam is a giant in ptv, based on the one game i played against stucey, i would be extra careful in that one!
still not happy that pac gave up his seat in the bm playoffs, but it’s what it is i suppose. glad he’s back, tho, and i’ll try to get a game or two with him outside of the playoffs.
assuming farmboy and adam advance like they usually do, seems like they’ve had quite the rivalry in recent years but farmboy has had him figured out… i would suggest adam deploy a new strategy so as not to repeat history!
and ghost, you better look out, as i’m coming for you!
now, where oh where is former heavyweight @JDOW hibernating all these years… won’t you come back already?
anyway… off we go, should be fun!

Would love to see you in the playoff. We’ll need a little time to figure this out -
Checking bid rules, noticed our new rule that past league champion is automatic #1 seed.
Give me a few minutes, hold up

Yes totally OK. If both players agree, you can agree to sides however you want.
However, if there’s not agreement, then the league “defaults” are there to make the decision for you. Even the league defaults do not specify bidding up or down, and certainly nothing about disclosing placements before bidding is over. I was just throwing in an idea now that OOB bids are quite high and some players prefer knowing what that +50 or +60 is going for before deciding. Thanks for the respectful question
