Hi everyone, I had a new thought this morning.
I think there should be a backup league moderator in case I get hit by a truck or something.
Mainly, the standings spreadsheet that has years of history in it. Oh, I guess that would still be there and a new leader could just start a new one and do it better, but if someone would volunteer, I could give dual access to the standing spreadsheet. If I ever disappear, the new leader would need to ask Dave Jensen for moderator powers so that the stickied threads that are locked could be updated, like the rules and the league history results, etc.
Anyway, anyone wanna volunteer to be backup? No responsibilities unless I disappear. Unless you want them. Many years ago there have been dual moderators - it works.
I would train you briefly on how the standings/ranking spreadsheet has been done in the past.
I will politely refuse anyone who doesn’t have a lot of history or an excellent reputation here, to protect everyone.
It’s not like I’m going to retire, and I drive carefully and try not to consume TOO much sugar every day, but you know. Life insurance policy.
-
I love managing spreadsheets actually so if nobody else wants to do it, I’m available.
I don’t have nearly as much history here as many others though, so no hard feelings if I’m not suited to the task. -
You are ideal.
We’ll talk about it.
Others are welcome to volunteer, but the need is met.
Thanks!!
-
I am ready to assist with administrative (forum related) tasks. Let me know.
-
@Panther Sweet, didn’t yet occur to me that you might be an option - so that’s awesome and thanks
If my backup actually needed moderator abilities I imagine he could go to you for edits as needed, if and until moderator status might be granted by Dave
-
To be clear to the league players -
I’m not anticipating any changes in my status.
It’s always a possibility that I would be deposed by a violent revolt, of course, complete with pitchforks and torches. (Or bombers and subs?)Looks like MrRoboto is my backup especially for the rankings spreadsheet.
I don’t need anyone to step up to be a co-moderator (not necessarily an A&A.org moderator with the black banner and super-power abilities - which is only granted by Dave, the owner of the site)
but anyone is always welcome to ask - to make a 2 man team for setting rules and such - although nobody would benefit if there is a “two-headed monster” where we might disagree on major points.
But moderating the league has not been a burden. I almost never am asked to make rulings or stop fights - it’s incredible, you guys are incredible.
What I’m saying is I don’t even want to be perceived as a dictator - I have been in charge for over 10 years because no one has expressed desire to lead, nor displeasure with my reign of terror (all dissidents are immediately suppressed)
But this too long of a post is to say that I am really honored and I enjoy this role, but I certainly don’t want to monopolize and I am seriously not a dictator. I’m only about 70% power hungry, not 100% or anything like that.
-
Unfortunately my status changed from “playing four games in parallel is just fine” to “a single game is currently too much”, this year. So I am more than happy for everyone to have and to invest spare time to run the league and to help organize it!
Thank you very much for all your work and commitment, Gamerman, and now to MrRoboto as well!
Having posted that, I certainly hope to be favored in any future moderator’s decision, LOL

Nice try, I am more neutral than Switzerland.
Well… more neutral than Yugoslavia maybe

Is any one else not receiving all of the MARTI rolls via email?
I have had 3 battles, 2 of which I attacked, 1 of which was an attack to me, to separate games and opponents, over 2 days, where I am receiving less than half the rolls - and not any particular ones at that. Not one complete battle.
-
Yeah, for the last couple of weeks I have only being 25-50% of the rolls.
-
Cheater’s paradise??!!
Seriously, I would say that if you have any suspicion about opponent dice rolls, then you are going to have to wait until they roll in.
See what I did there? ``` :D -
And yes mainah, you’re right, has been a big issue lately, thank you for your post.
-
I was having some issues too last week but it seems to have gotten better. They sometimes end up in your spam folder if you haven’t checked that. And I also know that Gmail can be a problem too.

I think someone said non-gmail email accounts work better, not sure though.
-
My yahoo has been good until this latest…
-
Unfortunately this has been an issue for almost 2 years now, as you can see here:
https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/38111/current-triplea-marti-pbf-pbem-gmail-issues
-
Yeah, but before, 2 years ago, I switched from Gmail to Yahoo to resolve/alleviate the issue. Then, about 5-6 months ago, Gmail starting working again 100% of the time so I switched back to Gmail. Then, suddenly about 2-3 weeks ago, it began again. I am on the 2.6.14364 version
-
AFAIK the Marti-Mail-Code within the software has not been touched for years. It ist not even proven that TripleA / Marti is the culprit. However I am not a developer.
Unfortunately no one has ever looked deeper into it.
-
It’s a huge issue imho.
Unfortunately rolling every battle on the forum is not really a comfortable alternative.Maybe G1 can be done here because it is such a deciding turn?
-
Is it really that much of a worry? I havent looked at my MARTI for years. Tend to trust that what has been posted is correct. Surely nobody would bother cheating on what is essentially a board game…maybe im naive…
