Had a calculator question in a league game.
In a recent combat where I was defending, my opponent and I came up with completely different calculator results. In his calculator, he (the attacker) had 87% odds. In mine, he had 35%. Its not a big deal, but I’m curious what explains this. When I go through it myself, I think the 35% is more accurate, and I’m curious if I am right on that too.
You can see it on page 7 here: https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=42164.90 We both posted screen shots of our calculators on the battle.

Hi farmboy,
I have the same version tripleA as you do (1.9.0.0.9687), and my built-in calc also gave the the attacker 35% chance of victory.
If Giallo has an earlier version (1.9.0.0.xxxx), I believe the calculator may have distorted the odds when using bombardment.
Even if 100% of American bombard rolls hit, the odds of Allied victory would still be significantly below 62%.
You can test this by removing the 3 American ships and 3 of the Axis infantry (Note: I say below 62%, because testing this way doesn’t allow the hypothetical bombard casualties to fire in round 1 and because it’s a suboptimal OOL).
Hope this helps :-)

Thanks Wheatbeer. That does help. I figured it was calculator error but wanted to make sure it wasn’t my calculator that was messing up.

For those of you who remember the illustrious and flamboyant Boldfresh, you may be interested to know that he is in Las Vegas now, for the World Series of Poker event this weekend. I’ll let you know how he does.

We wish him good Hands all the time.

Say hi from me, please.

He survived day 1 and played day2 yesterday in the main event. Did he survive arathorn or gamerman?

He got knocked out late last night, day 2.
He had 2nd best hand on a bunch of important pots. He played all day with one of the guys from last year’s final table, and it just didn’t break his way.
We had fun watching him though! Negraneu got smoked out early this year.
Better luck next year! Perhaps JDOW will join us? ;)

No, I have quit poker years ago. Also, I was a cash-game player and not a Tournament player.

dice roller is down?

I had to reload to get the dice roller working again.

I need a rule reminder. When Japan is not at war with the UK, can the China fighter land in Burma? I checked the rules and thought it was ambiguous (but maybe that is just because I really want to land it there :) )
-
Yes it can.
-
Just want to double check this. Even when Japan and UK are NOT at war, the China fighter can land in Burma.
-
Yes it can.

thanks to both of you and sorry for asking twice. I thought there was a chance that I wasn’t clear the first time.
-
Both the UK and China are at war so the rules about the powers not at war don’t apply. UK doesn’t have a rule that says it’s only at war on each map individually. So that’s why.
-
Japan-China relationship causes confusion too.
Japan considers it an act of war for the UK to meddle with Japan’s “activities” in China (UK can’t fly over or move anything into China when UK is not at war with Japan)
but vice-versa (China moving to Burma) is OK

Thanks for the explanations. I’m fairly sure its a move I’ve made in past games but as I was going to do it this time, it occurred to me that this might be something that triple A allows but which is actually illegal since normally the DOW rules would prevent movement into countries not yet at war.
