Thank you for the quick reply.
-
According to p. 9 of the Pacific Rules: The US (or any power) can capture and control a Dutch territory after Japan has done so, but this implies via a CM.
-
Thank you - In this particular game Japan has not been bold enough to attack that far away from the mainland!, but thank you for the clarification - I might need it later in the game! :-)
-
To be sure,
USA can land on or occupy Dutch territory in noncombat movement, just can’t take control
-
Haven’t played OOB in years. Seeing bids +45 etc… seems crazy.
-
@666 AndrewAAgamer gets the credit for that! We at Allied HQ thank him for giving us a fighting chance. How it went on so long with those low bids is a testimony to how comfortable players here are with the Axis winning most of the time.

It’s a special relationship between UK/ANZAC and Dutch
USA can’t take control of Dutch
Can we ask the follow up question, does this make sense? We have bm and yg and bb. I can’t get the play tester hat off no matter how hard I try.

It does to some degree because it stops USA from coming in and claiming Dutch New Guinea in particular, then being able to put a naval base down there. I don’t mind the rule the way it is.

@simon33 And yet t.here’s a 45 to 60 ipc bid

That isn’t because of the custodianship rules though.
-
@simon33 But it’s an easy common-sense fix.

What do you mean? USA should be able to take the money islands?
-
My understanding is that the US can take control of a Dutch territory after the Japanese seize control.
-
@ArtofWar1947 I would amend the rule to say the US take control after declaration of war or a state of war is declared between the western alliance and Japanese empire

There will be a third edition someday I believe so remember the rule you do not get what you do not ask for.
-
@crockett36 Inside info, or personal prediction?
-
@mikawagunichi personal prediction.

It is slower than the second coming. Looks like they have stopped work on it.

@simon33 Well, historically we have the “third edition” which is the Gen-con 42 set up, then we have the same to the magic people. This might be considered the wilderness years. Now we have a flurry of reprints and new developments, like the scenario games of the 2000s. So we do have progress. And it is making them money. I think we need to ask for:
- a global 40 map that is compact for those who don’t have a lot of space.
- a deluxe all in one, with case, all the bells and whistles, leather–in the 1000.00 range.
- a youtube version, that contains rulesets from BBR, YG or even small channels like me.
- a handicapping mechanism like my time machine.
- technology rules that work like my superchart.
- new pieces like fortifications, marines and rail.
- new rules for sea blocking like in War Room,
- a fix to commonsense issues like the Gerrys being able to move into Italian occupied E Po and still receive their bonus.
The best venue to make noise is BGG, FB and here. Ask and ye shall receive.
