@gamerman01 I definitely agree with the point about lack of insensitivity to an bid. The absolute bids are too low for it to be sensitive in the first place IMO.
But, (and no offense) the recent post mortem on the OOB playoffs in which it was declared the game was over after G1 would never happen in PTV outside of absolutely insane dice. The board is bigger, the strategies are more diverse, and there are far more opportunities to recover from bad dice.

Path to Victory, right?
I just added up Ghostglider, Adam514, General Disarray, Axis Dominion, 666, Peirce, and ArtofWar. FOR THE PAST 18 MONTHS ONLY
In total they took Allies 39 times, Axis 31
General D wants the Allies and took them 6 times and Axis only 1
Peirce wants Axis and took them 6 times and Axis 0
So those two offset.
About bids for PtV, and it being the most “balanced” because of small bids chosen:
We don’t have enough sample size, not even close, to make any conclusions about what a proper bid should be.
Most of the games completed over the past 18 months should be thrown out of consideration because the stronger player almost always wins. I’m seeing that no matter what side is taken by who, the stronger player wins - almost always.
The rest of the games, which are few, just don’t tell you anything about bids because there are waaaaay too many other variables. What about oob? Top 10 elo, axis, allies?

@crockett36 great work!

More of a damning assessment of LL IMO. PTV is by far the most balanced and dynamic of the the 3 global variants.
There is a 4th variant :)

Yes, but that one is not a League game which, I think, is what he was referring to.

42 should be league, imo.
-
@crockett36 Seconded, G42 is the official GenCon tournament version.
I have been practicing quite a bit for BGN’s Battlefront Dayton this November, and the time limit using a tournament format really changes the game.

I will admit I’m not sure what version you are referencing when you say 42. Is that AA 50 1942 scenario?
-
@AndrewAAGamer LH came up with a 42 set up. It is the version of G40 that is played as a tournament at Gencon, Smorey Swamp. Very unique. Worth a look.

@AndrewAAGamer Global 1942, there is an official Larry Harris version which is included in the Global map pack download.
Major differences in board setup since it (vaguely) resembles a later point in time, and the Turn Order is different -

@barnee I’ve checked out Oztea 42, heard good things. Haven’t ever played it against a human opponent though.
Interesting stats between the 3:

@everyone Hello hope everyone is well. I would like to let those of you I am in games with currently know that I am leaving for 3 weeks to Europe. I will try my best to play turns as frequently as I can, but no promises. I will for sure do one turn in each game tomorrow morning as I’m in the airport.
Additionally, if anyone has been to Dublin, Paris, or London and has anything they think I should do there PLEASE let me know as I am in each city for a week and I still have a few free days with nothing planned. Thank you all!! -
There are rumblings about a little 2v2, non recorded game league action.
Are you interested? Discussion starting up a bit on that top stickied hot-seat thread. I’ll change the name of it if this gets rolling.
Leaning toward a mini-tournament.
8 players makes a 2 round tournament, 16 makes a 3 round. We can fit in the odd numbers if necessary, like a 3 man Allied team or 2 or somethingG40 OOB
Get to know another player! (Your partner) Maybe even some video-conferencing!
Play Axis and Allies the way it was meant? to be played. WITHOUT total control of half the world! Try to work with another! Get new ideas for game play. Experience the game in a whole different way.
Informal! Fun! League players! Or bring a friend from outside, that’s OK
