You’ll have to show me that Italian Egypt strategy. I really want to figure out a counter to it. I’m realzing I need to be better at using blockers in the Pacific earlier on, especially to attempt to protect DEI.

Yeah, some pointers for the Pacific as the Allies:
I try to pick a key island for each sea zone to block passage. Once you’re sure that Japan can’t get through, you only need enough transport protection to deal with their planes. Sometimes it helps to keep the UK and ANZAC fleet together.
And I’ve already shown you the Italian Egypt strategy, just review history! :wink: In essence, it’s Italy should send absolutely everything towards Egypt from Round 1. I don’t even mess with the French for several rounds. Once you have Egypt, it’s pretty easy to take Tunis. Morocco can be more difficult with US aid coming in, but less of a threat than not taking Cairo. If you don’t take Cairo early, the UK can keep it from you ALL game. They simply have too much money and can start dropping tanks/planes to keep it away. Italy must attack in the first few rounds, as each round gives them 6 more units there per round.
I don’t recall ever seeing a game where the Axis went on to win even though Italy never took Cairo. With Cairo in hand, Italy can then take parts of the Suez Canal, preventing naval passage. Then it’s only a one-sided front for their navy, and they stand a better chance at keeping the US out of the Med. If you don’t lock the Brits out, then it’s a two-front war where you’re on the defensive the entire game.
