You never control a sea zone.
Sea zones are either friendly (contain no enemy surface warship) or hostile (contain enemy surface warship(s)).
The result of a sea battle is that you have cleared it of enemy units (or not).

It’s a general concept of every A&A game (at least those on a Global scope, also 1940 Europe and 1940 Pacific).

I’ve seen the term JoboSchrek.
PanzerSchrek was “tank Terror” even though it referred to the german copy of the Bazooka.
